Link Wray may never get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but his contribution to the language of rockin' guitar would still be a major one, even if he had never walked into another studio after cutting "Rumble." Quite simply, Link Wray invented the power chord, the major modus operandi of modern rock guitarists. Listen to any of the tracks he recorded between that landmark ... Green flags...and some red flags too... 5 May 2012
By Link Wray Fan - Published on
Format: Audio CD
If you are a completist of Wray Family music, this CD has four gems that make it a worthwhile addition to your collection - the Link rarities ROUGHSHOD ( Scottie 45) and his first released recording JONNY BOM BONNY from his Kay Records EP, as well as two hot sides from brother Ray Vernon Wray - DANGER ONE WAY LOVE and I'M COUNTING' ON YOU. These tracks are CD quality, all cleaned up from the source vinyl.

However there are some "red flags" that pop up.

First is the reason I purchased this CD - the track listing says this CD contains an alternative version of RUMBLE. I should have known better - Rumble was done in three takes. The recording listed as an alternate version of RUMBLE is actually RAMBLE. Intentional? Well, it sold me on buying a copy. Honest Mistake? Even someone with the most basic knowledge of Link Wray shoulda caught it.

With no contact info for the record company, and judging from the "extensive liner notes and rare photos" contained in the CD booklet ( all copied - much of it verbatim - from various websites, with no credit given to those sources ), the red flags are starting to make sense....
