This collection brings together 4 brilliant Ealing Studios productions, at least three of which are very well known - 'The Titfield Thunderbolt', 'The Lavender Hill Mob' and 'Hue & Cry'. The inimitable Stanley Holloway and Alec Guiness give superb performances and laughs abound in all three. 'Dead of Night' is not as well known perhaps and is a psychological thriller comprising of 5 chilling ghost stories. There are outstanding performances from Michael Redgrave and Mervyn Johns in this last film. I thoroughly recommend this collection.

This is the second of four volumes which reproduce the films made at the Ealing Studios. They are classics of their genre, and vary between comedy and thriller. They are well-produced and of great interest to anyone who enjoys films which have a plot, good dialogue which is not drowned out by background music, and good acting. Highly recommended.
