Mexican drama directed by and starring Gael Garcia Bernal as Cristobal, a wealthy young man with a passion for hip-hop music. Cristobal is planning a party for his friends at his parents' house but unfortunately his younger sister and her hippy friends will also be in attendance, and, as the party gets underway, it soon becomes obvious that the two groups of friends are going to find it difficult to see past their differences.

I was reminded of the family scenes in 'Y Tu Mama Tambien', in which Gael Garcia Bernal starred. His characters are all believable and have more than one dimension (for example, the rowdy friends who arrive quickly calm down to reveal genuine personalities). The class conflict could have been a little more subtle, perhaps, but the performances paper over that. A shame the film wasn't a tad longer as there is a rich seam here to mine.

Definitely worth giving a try.

This is an interesting film Set at a weekend house, and involves the lives of youths from the differing classes and race in the Mexican society, it's in Spanish with subtitles, which i prefer to awful English dubbing, It is Gael Garcia Bernals directing debut, and he does'nt do a bad job.
