Product Description

Kris is in trouble again, because someone's agenda - to bring down her father (Prime Minister of Wardhaven).

Suspended awaiting trial for alleged fraud, she is inital sent to Hilkila, to hold the hand of an dying queen, who was an old war comrade of her greatgrandfather, but things get complicated.

Upon her return to Wardhaven, she finds that the new goverment has sent the fleet away, and order remains of the home fleet to stand down, leaving the planet defenceless against the enemy battlefleet that arrives demanding its surrender.

Kris declares her Commander-in-Chief, determined to defend her home, with every ship she can commadeer, and able-bodied person she can recruit, whether Navy/Army or civilian, willing to risk ther life. Kris leads the most important mission of her career, and it may be her last.

Mike Shepherd has done it again, with an excellent high action story, that keeps you gripped right to the end.

Well this time out in the expanse hunting pirates, generally exploring and trading even if its just for image purposes only Kris gets briefly bored, briefly because you wait too long by a fuzzy jump point you really don't know whats going to make an appearance!

Following a brief trip back to Chance to find out her latest potential beau is going to get married kris is left to explore the great yonder and of course the luddites whom are more xenophobic as well as little interested in chatting but after facing a land grab by some opportunists aided by an old foe (I won't say who but given their usual life expectancy there isn't much of a choice beyond the fact they aren't a member of the Peterwald family although she does make a reappearance even if its just so she can learn from her dear departed brother's death...)

Following this Kris learns that the luddites sorry xenophobes have sent a group to kill dear old Victory's dad and then Kris has to face being stuck in enemy territory with potentially no help even though said Victory's dad is actually not responsible this time!

Darn i hope I didn't ruin this book its actually quite a good read and worth the wait until the next part is released.

I like it, the whole series. Okay, yes, it is full of Mary-Janes, anachronic disparity and copy-editing errors, but you ain't gonna lose the plot and the twists may even catch you by surprise - sometimes the MJs Don't have the answer...
