Product Description

Sixteen-year-old Dru's worst fears have come true - Sergej, the deadly nosferat, has kidnapped her best friend Graves and she must now go on a suicidal rescue mission to bring him back in one piece. That is, if she can put all of Christophe's training to good use, defeat her mother's traitor, Anna, once and for all, and manage to survive another day...

From the Back Cover

Dru Andersen is not afraid of the dark. But she should be. Dru knows that The Real World - peopled with ghosts, suckers and zombies - is a frightening place. She's ready to kill first and ask questions later, so it is going to take her a while to work out just who she can trust. Segej, the deadly nosferat, has kidnapped Dru's best friend Graves and she must go on a dangerous mission to get him back. But the Order - the vampire-fighting training school - says it will take years to train her. And her mentor, the seductive but dangerous Christophe, doesn't seem very interested in rescuing Graves. Time is running out, and Dru is finished with listening to the Order and finished with listening to Christophe. From her on she's going to face the king of the vampires on her own terms.

Strange Angels Review 16 May 2011
Format:Paperback
I hardly ever write reviews, maybe I should start doing so more. I loved the first book and me being 26 and this being a teen series is saying something. The first book had a Supernatural feel, Supernatural as in the tv show, where she goes out hunting with dad and kills things that go bumb in the night and thats what attracted me to it. I thought that after that her and newly turned Graves would continue with what her dad started but it took a completely different track which I thought was ok. The feel of the first book was awesome and thought we would get to see more supernatural creatures but the author has stuck to mainly weres and vamps. That would be ok if she never mentioned the other creatures but Dru keeps referring back to when they were hunting things and I would like to see more of that.

For a character who is meant to have been hunting with Dad since she was little shes very fagile, she crys alot and she overthinks things. The author keeps referring back to feelings that was mentioned in chapeter 1,2,3 etc etc. You feel like saying ok we get the picture of how you are feeling you have told us ten times that you miss graves sleeping on the floor foe example. No need to go over already covered things. Its like the author thinks that we need to be told 100s of times as we are so stupid not to take it in. If you look at book 4 you will notice there is not alot of talking between the characters just dru thinking about things and feeling sorry for herself, even when christophe talks to her directly you get about to paragraphs of thinking before she replys. Like when anna sends her a note you had to wait a page and a half before you actually got to see what was in the note. Stop over analizing everything.

At least in this book she does stand up for herself and there is abit more fighting going on but through books 1-4 when you are reading it in your head you get a sad tone all the way through even when someone is being funny or meaning to be funny the author cant seem to get the moods and feelings right so it looks as though dru is always scared, sad and never happy. Its getting pretty annoying. I am the sort of person once I pick up a book no matter how awful it is I read all the way through. Its a thing I have and for the 1st time ever I thought of putting it down. I sat there calculating how many pages there were left. I usually read a whole book in a day or two if its a good read it took me over a week to read this I was dreading picking it up.

All moaning aside it would be a great book if it were more action packed and I get we need to know the character and how she is feeling but no need to go over it again and again, if there was less of that and more character interaction and dru toughend up a bit then it would be 5 stars as the story is a good plot, it might not have been the plot I was thinking it was going to be but it still good which is why I have given the series 3 stars as its ok. Will I be buying book number 5 of coarse I will, I need to find out whats happening but lets hope the author takes heed of the reviews on here and other sites. As its getting boring.

Hmm... 26 April 2011
Format:Paperback
The first book was totally amazing, but the second was ok - but now it is getting boring - I mean; nothing really happened, yes?
Please please, next time make it EXPLODE with action and make me feel for the characters again.

This fourth installment of the Strange Angels series by Lili St. Crow is even more fast-paced and exciting with a narrative which hurtles along at break-neck speed.

This time around Dru is intent on rescuing her best-friend Graves from the clutches of her greatest enemy. Christophe is determined to train Dru and ensure she is fully prepared before she tries to save Graves but he may have ulterior motives. Dru is caught up in a love triangle with Graves and Christophe as she attempts to make sense of her feelings for them both, whilst also finally being on the brink of blooming.

This series got off to a brilliant start although I thought it dipped a little bit with 'Jealousy'. Now though, the action has been ramped up a notch and it's up to the reader to see if they can hang on for the ride! Nothing is ever what it seems and no one can be trusted as Dru faces a terrible danger. Dru is one of my favourite female protagonists. She's smart and snarky and can kick butt with the best of them. Although she doesn't often let her guard down with the people around her, in 'Defiance' she confronts some of the romantic feelings she's been having for Graves and Christophe. It's refreshing to see Dru begin to open up and face her emotions for once. She's been adept at suppressing them so far. Although I'm definitely in Team Christophe, there's plenty to satisy Graves fans too.

It's also nice to see Dru having some female interaction for once as she's protected, among others, by Nathalie, a female werwulfen. I thought that some of the scenes between the two of them were great and really crackled with smart dialogue.

There's no time to get your breath back as there's the most exciting climax in the series so far. Absolutely gripping and nerve-jangling, this will have you on the edge of your seat. Dru Anderson is back and she's back with a bang!
