Product Description

Review

Deeper and Deeper claims to be a complete instruction course in stage hypnosis, and actually is. Of course, and as it makes clear, no book can gift you the natural talent to hold an audience let alone entertain it. But if you have the personality and professionalism to carry it off, you probably wouldn t ever need another book on stage hypnotism to make a career of it. It is just what you would expect such a volume to be, covering everything from setting up the venue to turning the lights out as you leave. The techniques necessary for volunteer selection, rapid inductions, deepenings and entertainment routines are all dealt with clearly and concisely, and Jon includes his super suggestion which every therapist should have in their armoury. Deeper and Deeper is very matter of fact. It is written with great weight and authority because it is the distillation of decades of real life experience, devoid of speculation or theory. Everything Jon writes can be done, has been done. And it doesn't take much imagination to recognize the practical applications for the consulting room. --Barry Thain - Clinical Hypnotist Mindsci Clinic

Jonathan Chase s book Deeper and Deeper is a very nuts & bolts approach to Stage Hypnosis a Complete Instruction Course in a book; and should be appreciated by those with experience, as well as by newcomers to the profession. I linked instantly to Jonathan s wit and directness in Deeper and Deeper and read parts of the book several times. If you get only one piece of useful information from any book then it s well worth the time and money. From this book, I m sure most Stage Hypnotists (whatever their level of ability or experience) will get a great deal more! I especially liked Jonathan s obvious concern for the safety and wellbeing of his volunteers as well as his attention to the behind the scenes professionalism of a successful Stage Hypnotist. I recommend this book very highly and look forward to any subsequent writings from Jonathan. --Grant Boddington - editor Hypnotes

For some very peculiar reason these days there are a lot of books and seminars on Stage Hypnosis. Some of these courses run into the thousands of dollars, but are they worth it? Perhaps. Well, here, in a wonderful new book by England s hypnotist, Jonathan Chase, is a great way to start performing the art of Stage Hypnosis. Jon begins by giving you a fine intro into what hypnosis is, how it is recognized, etc. Also about the dangers of Stage Hypnotism. (I learned one safety technique here that was worth the whole price of the book.) Then he teaches you not a long drawn-out but very quick induction where your subjects are hypnotized by the time they are on stage. This is a newer technique unlike what is known in the United States. He teaches you how to structure your show and how to put it together with props, etc. There is only a basic outline for the show Pre-Talk (no scripts is included, but he shows you how to create one yourself). He includes ten pages of routine ideas which should help you along. Highly recommended for all magicians and related arts. --Bryan Dean - Magic Talk

5.0 out of 5 stars The best yet 21 July 2005
Format:Paperback
I've read every book on stage hypnosis here and on the net. This is without doubt the best yet. Everything in this fun and fast to read book is do-able. I've been messing around with hypnosis for ages now but these methods have actually made it a million times easier and better.

I've even wasted money on rubbish from e-bay.

I've just been asked to do my friends christmas party for cash money thanks to Jonathans tips on impromptu hypnosis and that amazing super suggestion which is worth the price of this book ten times over.

I've read them all but this one make all the others obsolete.

I look forward to the next and will book on the masterclass.

Great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward & easy to use 9 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
This book is a good, solid introduction to the basics of stage hypnosis. It provides a variety of techniques & ideas, while inviting the reader to build upon them in their own original style. The simple style of writing means that this book can be read & learned quickly - the day after receiving it I was using some of the techniques & getting results, which is more than I can say for other books I have read on the subject. I have already ordered another book by the author.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing New! 1 May 2010
Format:Paperback
I work as a Hypnotherapist & Im slowly moving into the stage hypnosis areana. I have read alot of books on the stage side of the business & I can safely state that this book will NOT prepare anyone for a career in stage hypnosis. It doesnt even come close in getting you ready for the stage. There are a few useful tips but really this book is quite limp in its explaination of the craft. I would recommend Geoff Ronnings Guide To Modern Stage Hypnosis or Jonathan Royles Theres No Such Thing As Hypnosis DVD set as the best way to teach you what you really need to know to to the job right! Im sure that the auther has made a good career from the business but then I have seen the worst performers in the world make a living from it but if you actually want to be taken serious and not bomb on stage then give this book a miss. Il be selling it asap as its not even good enough to be in my hypnosis book collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal.... 23 Feb 2006
Format:Paperback
A straight forward, no-nonsense guide to basic stage hypnotic procedures. Engagingly written with a good balance of background information and practical exercises. It was the first book on hypnosis I had read and as a result I ended up studying several courses with Jonathan Chase.I can guarantee that this man knows what he's talking about!

1.0 out of 5 stars A grotesque view on stage hypnosis. 13 Jun 2007
Format:Paperback
This book was 'written with great weight and authority', unfortunately this was not deserved. The author gives a brief over view of all apsects of stage hypnosis including the ins and outs of behind the scenes, however it gives an overall air of arrogance and is instructive rather than informative.

'Tried and tested' and 'fail proof' ideas and generalised scripts for the induction of hypnosis etc i suspect do not work. There is not enough prep work done to instruct those who wish to hypnotise how to induce this state effectively, (hardly any information on pacing, relaxation etc) and any one who knows anything about effective hypnosis will realise that clicking your fingers and saying 'sleep' does not work unless the subject believes one hundred percent that it will.

The author of this book is often crude and quite obviously doesn't care about the welfare of the audience often offering insider tips which make the reader feel like they should view their audience as stupid, gullible, and as fools.

I doubt for one minute that the author uses half of the techniques in this book (if he does he is a very crooked man), a more likely explanation is that he wants his royalties from the book without giving the main pointers which most people desire. (For me this was indirect suggestion). Unless you are looks for dirty little secrets which are more common knowledge that true to form gold dust then i would give this a miss.

Utterly dissapointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Missing Something. 13 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Since seeing Derren Brown on T.V in the U.K, on Aircraft Video and after buying a collection of his series I got to wondering about hypnosis and the like. After reviewing this book's reviews I put the pennies together and purchased it. One of the worst investments I have made in 2009 ! I may be missing something in the way this is written or the way I am reading it but other reviews are I read do not relate to this product in my mind.
