Product Description

Amy is a thirteen-year-old champion swimmer. When she and her best friend Sophie meet with an accident one day, Amy's life changes dramatically.

Amy's story of how she comes to terms with Sophie's death and with the consequences of her accident is told with sensitivity and humour. In hospital, Amy makes friends with quirky Harry, and begins to feel more positive. Her relationship with her parents is changing too, and the family's move from Nottingham to Brighton heralds a new start.

Amy starts swimming again and triumphs in a competition - she has come full circle, and we have cried and laughed with her all the way.

Not just for children 30 April 2007
Format:Paperback
Jill's book, although written for children, is the kind of book that adults can enjoy too. If you have or have had teenage children and have suffered first or second hand with tragedy and illness this story will really ring true. Having said that it is in no way a maudlin read and is a very uplifting story. The writer has a wicked sense of humour and there are many laughs along the way. Amy (and Harry) are great role models and I loved their story.I hope there is a sequel in the pipeline.

A perfect read. 5 Aug 2007

Don't be put off by the summary of the book. This is designed for children, but using the humor and emotional writing that Jill has included into the book, makes it even more worth while for anyone to read.
This simple yet complex story includes a situation that feels so realistic, and the characters included, and it's books like this that I would love to read more often.
I hope she writes her next book as good as this.

I loved this book. It has exactly the right mix of a thought-provoking story line, humour in the face of adversity, beautifully written descriptive detail and a good old-fashioned look at how families SHOULD still behave (without being sugary - we also get a glimpse at what can happen to families faced with terrible situations).

Of the 5 books I am currently reading, this is the only one I have managed to finish so far.

I really would love to read a sequel to this book.
