This is one of the best albums I have ever bought. If you like intelligent, minimal detroit-sounds this is the one thing you should listen to. Pure frequencies, carefully modelled and powerfully bent. Beats repeat with a slight different latency and finish. Still, jazz finds it way in, melody is there. Take it out for a night drive..

Pure, beautiful, flowing techno. Could be a soundtrack to your first flight into space!

HASH(0x97eb2228) out of 5 stars I've bought 100 CDs this year. This is THE BEST one. 15 Mar. 2002

thanks to...I discovered Aril Brikha. there is no other way that I would have ever heard about him. that's one reason it's too bad the major labels are fighting sharing. like the other reviews say, there is NOTHING LIKE THIS that I've ever heard. but don't let that scare you away: it is electronic and yet so listenable -- out of 100s of CDs that I've purchased this year, this is definitely in the Top 3, along with Beanfield and Bugge Wesseltoft (not that it's anything like them). It is so original. Sample "groove la chord" for a taste, then GET IT. I only wish that he had more than 1 CD out there, but music like this doesn't get created every day.

HASH(0x99c6b48c) out of 5 stars Perfection 26 Jan. 2001
By Jalllala - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I could go on for pages about how unbelievably brilliant this album is but I will just say it is THE best electronic album I've ever heard. I've loved the genre since I was very young and remember picking up Kraftwerk albums on vinyl along with Yellow Magic Orchestra imports and those artists are still the ones whom respect is due for paving the way for much of the innovative electronica that followed. However this album is something very special and unique. It comes from someone who to my knowledge had one 12" only released before this album sprang fully formed from his/her? fertile imagination. As far as I understand it the owners of Transmat, the releasing label were so impressed with the work from Aril that they re-activated their label which had become somewhat dormant just so they could release this masterpiece.
Make no mistake this is electronic listening music at it's finest. Literally it sounds as though it's been beamed back through time from the 25th Century so unlike anything else is it. My only hope is that new work is not long in coming from this artist who deserves much more recognition outside of the small world of techno obsessives.
If you like this take the time to seek out stuff by Carl Craig, Cybotron, Juan Atkins, Model 500, Derrick May, Rhythm is Rhythm and basically anything on the Transmat, Planet E, Metroplex and Warp labels.

HASH(0x96dc93a8) out of 5 stars sensual techno with smooth basslines and subdued melodies 14 Sept. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

For those into minimal techno or mellow, non-aggressive techno with a calm pace, this album will please. Most tracks evoke serene moods while a couple approach monotony. Check out the audio samples, they're very representative of the album.

HASH(0x9713b254) out of 5 stars Lush texture 8 May 2005
By Sanderson Dear - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is one of only a handful of techno oriented albums I've ever listened to which can be played in just about any environment, it's that warm feeling. The lush textures of "Otill" alone is enough reason to take this disc on a roadtrip and listen to during those moments of quiet reflecting. I was working in a local record store at the time this CD was released and everytime i played it someone bought a copy. When anyone says techno is cold and calculated, i suggest they check this Transmat release out. Even if you don't like techno it's an excellent background album to play on a lazy weekend. It never disappoints.

HASH(0x96aa9fd8) out of 5 stars Groove La Chord is nothing but 5stars Transmat stuff GREAT 1 Aug. 1999
By johnny.johnson@swipnet.se - Published on Amazon.com

The name Aril Brikha is new to me.??? Anyway, the material on 'Departure In Time' is outstanding Detroit stuff in tracks like 'Groove LaChord', while others don't attract me that much. However, it's Transmat and a must for us collectors. Although it's a 3, it will peak to 5 now and then. What a mood!
