1.0 out of 5 stars A weak and annoying offering 6 Aug 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
Okay so firstly don't let the game title fool you. This is most definitely not a Sacred game, just a blatant play on the title to lure in old fans.

This is a completely different style of game in a totally different genre of game.

Gone is the freedom to make any choices about your character.
Gone is the freedom to make any meaningful choices about your playstyle.
Gone is the freedom to make any choices about armour.
Gone is the freedom to make any meaningful choices about where you go, what you do or in what order.

I'll start with a quick sum up of my experience with this game:

Pick from one of the generic, uninspired pre-made heroes. Run through the pre-laid out, single pathed missions. Spam buttons in any order because it really doesn't matter what your skills do or when you use them. All the while there's a voiceover from some cliche-rebel teenage girl whining at you and your 'weapon spirit' making the same irritating comments over and over and over and over. Get used to it.

The campaign; you don't have an open world. What you have is a mission select screen with a linear layout of missions and side missions. Missions are all single pathed no choices affairs where you follow the laid out road and fight the pre-planned mobs of enemies. Usually a tank+spank boss waits at the end. Side quests are very short versions of the above with a reward at the end.
Every mission and side quest has a level, so you don't get to decide which order to do them in really. If you skip a side quest it quickly falls below your level.

Combat; disbalanced, repetitive and uninspired. Scores of enemies, to the point you really just can't tell what's going on on screen. Spam attacks and spells.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really not so bad 19 Aug 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
If you go into the game expecting Sacred 2 , then you will be very disapointed. Sacred 3 boils everything down to action. There is nothing that requires pausing mid level to change gear etc. and slow things down.

The game has a world map from which you select appropriate levels , these are divided into plot levels and side quest type levels.
Each character has access to a number of talentst and as you progress through the plot a variety of weapons. Gold which is the only thing that drops during a level is your currency for upgrading everything and buying from the shop before the level starts.

There is a good mix of characters with different advantates and disadvantages. The combat system is also a bit more involved than pressing the same button over and over, requiring timing to interupt attacks and methods of breaking shields. You also collect spirits as the game progresses which give various modifying effects.

Online the game really works because of the aforementioned nothing stopping the progress through the level. If you ever get fed up of people messing around with loot, then this will be the game for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, attractive, hack and slash game 10 Aug 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
I bought this game as I wanted a simple mindless hack and slash game to keep me busy until Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition arrives. The graphics in Sacred 3 are nice, with plenty of enemies on screen without much screen tearing or slow-down as can happen in these types of game. Each main mission last about 30 mins and if you quit half way through you will have to start from the beginning of that mission when you play again. There are also plenty of quick side missions (5-10mins each) which are useful for leveling up your character if you are struggling a bit. The game is fast, colourful, attractive and fun. I actually DID like the humor, I liked the feeling of power when you just smash and wipe out hoards of bad guys.

The main negative is I have not a clue what the story was about - basically I was funneled through 10 hrs worth of levels and I cannot even now say what the point was apart from kill the bad guys. Also there is no real reply value for the solo player as no loot is given in the missions to collect and the skill trees are very basic, so 10-12hrs is all you get and therefore the price is a little steep. But if you buy it, play through in 7-10 days then resell, you should be able to get half of your money back.

I have never played Sacred 2 so came in to this game just expecting the game that was advertised (hack and slash Diablo style game) and that is what I got. Check youtube as what you see is all that you get, no more depth.

So an attractive hack and slash game, about 11hrs in length and just what I wanted, hence the 4 stars. Just the price is a bit steep, but reselling quick should sort that out for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage 6 Aug 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
An appalling game. It is nothing like the epic Sacred 2 and instead it is a naff Diablo 3 clone without any of the charm. The characters are pre-made so there's no customisation, no inventory management, no open world environment and is a bash the buttons, formulaic, set path with annoying voice overs.

Please avoid - mine's already been traded in.

1.0 out of 5 stars A complete waste of money 4 Sep 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
I think it is very misleading to call this game Sacred 3 as it is completely different to Sacred 2. That was an enjoyable game and this is rubbish. A complete waste of money.
