This book is one of my faves. I used the look inside function on here as I was thinking about buying it, and I found myself wanting to read more, so I bought it. So glad I did, I just couldn't put it down.
The characters are totally believable and the book is very well written. I found the parts about the "superstar Jake" and his rock star life, hilarious! Throughout, the book keeps jumping from present to past. Chapter one is the present, chapter two is sixth grade, chapter three present, chapter four seventh grade, and so on. I thought this was annoying at first, but it grew on me after the first few chapters. So, you find out what happened at high school; how Katie and Jake first met. It reminded me of high school: crushes on boys, how bitchy teenage girls could be, etc!
I'm going to look for some other books by these same authors.

I have read Nannies Diaries by this author and I found that book really intereting. It was one book that I could read again without feeling bored. I would definitely recommend that book to others. But this 'Dedication' is not as good a book. I did want to finish it to find out the ending but the storyline was boring.
It was along the lines of a lady in her 30s out for revenge, but fails each time she tries because she loves this guy so much! And the story also includes her parents having problems and lots of misunderstandings between them.
I didn't really feel like the book was grabbing my attention. Admittedly, it was quite unique that at each chapter, the timeline changes from her current life to her past. And quite vivid descriptions, although some descriptions were so long I kind of lost my line of thought/imagination trying to take everything in. And getting confused as I went on.
But I think the most frustrating part for me was the ending. I definitely found the ending left me quite speechless or -_-". Might be because I'm a lover of happy endings. Or mutual understanding. I probably wouldn't read this book again and won't recommend it unless you have a lot of free time on your hands.

I picked this up on a whim as I was not familiar with the authors, and what a pleasant surprise. It was a wonderful book; from page 1 I was enthralled and could not put it down. The characters are vivid and engaging, and as a reader you feel immersed in the story, so much so that it is sometimes difficult to bring yourself back into the real world! It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me think. I would not hesitate in recommending it to any of my friends, in fact I have already done so. I am now going to read the Nanny Diaries and Citizen Girl- I don't want to miss a thing these talented authors have to offer.
