[ASIN:B004ZQBP0O Dedicated: A Salute to the 5 Royales] This is a great tribute album, I don't know what the previous reviewer was listening to but Cropper is all over this album like a rash! On virtually every track his playing is his usual blend of wonderful rhythm guitar, lovely licks & inventive fills that his mentor Lowman Pauling would be proud of. There are too many terrific performances by all the artists to pick out individual favourites suffice to say they all sound as though they had a ball!

The 5 Royales have meant absolutely nothing to me but Steve Cropper has educated me. With his selection of guest musicians adding to the pot this is a very good album. One down point for me is the overcomplicated arrangement on 'dedicated to the one I love' wherein Lucinda Williams should have been left to sing it on her own,without Dan Penn,as her sultry voice is so seductive and his voice is not really compatible with hers. As a consequence the track unfortunately lost its way. Over all it's a very good album with Steve playing like the legend he is, nurturing everyone on.

Steve knows his heroes. With the help of numerous celebrities. But still an unity. Brings old fashioned music up-to-date. If you like old fashioned r&b you can go wrong. Proves how great a guitarist Steve is.
