Product Description
Emma Bailey is thirty years old and single. No problem for her, but a point of round-the-clock contention for her mother, her family, and too many of her friends. In Jamie Lynn Braziel's Declaring Spinsterhood, the terminal illness known as "old maid" is explored from every angle, and the result is a compassionate, compelling, and wickedly funny novel. Emma may stand up before all and declare her intention to never marry, but what about that little place in her heart reserved for Brian Davis? Sure, Brian's seeing someone, and Emma is not a vixen who breaks up relationships, but would it be so terrible if Brian returned the interest? Rather than bide her time, Emma dates…and dates. Some of the men are charming, others less so. With her vow of spinsterhood more a noose than a friend, Emma musters her courage and moves on. That is, until the unforeseen throws up the biggest obstacle of her life: love.

Not a racy, corset gripping book of a thirty year old woman's plight at being single, much more refrained.

That said a great summer easy read! Not a juicy, big block buster read but a pleasant one. This was one of the reasons I choose this book, as I wanted a easy book that doesn't involve too much thought process, no murders just a good read.

Emma a 30 year old is suffering at the hands of her mother and friends about the lack of her having partner, even worse this is magnified at her sister's wedding.

So Emma declares 'Spinsterhood', funny at parts and also sad in others.

Well worth a read but remember not a corset gripping summer read.

If you like Jackie Collins type books you would be disappointed with this as in no way does this compare.

I was really disapointed by this book, not because the main character is a religious 30 yr old virgin but because the book is predictable and whilst not a long novel it is a slightly boring one. the moody meloncolic attitude of the protagonist did nothing to endear the story to me. the only twist in the story is a slightly violent one but if you read the very obvious signs throughout the begining and middle it will not in anyway shock or surprise you.
That said I feel it only fair to point out that I am a 25yr old athiest from England, I'm sure the book will apeal to more religious readers who apreaciate the lack of bad language and the very sexualy moral path the characters have chosen to take. I do however, feel that there should be some indication of this on the cover. I looked forward to reading what I expected to be a modern chic lit. The books only time indicater is a referance to a memory card for a camera, without this you could easily believe the book is decades old.

Declaring Spinsterhood is a delightful summer read of the ups and downs of dating, love and romance. When Emma gets fed up of the dating scene she "declares spinsterhood". I am not going to say any more about the story as I hate giving things away but I am sure if you buy this book you will really enjoy it. I loved the storyline, a great summer read and would recommend this wonderful little book.
