Good storyline and very entertaining. Really enjoyed this one as it had quite a few twists and turns. Not bad at all.

HASH(0x8c5b5d68) out of 5 stars Not Just Bad; Really Bad 3 Sept. 2012
By T Reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I wish I could give this no stars, but Amazon doesn't offer that option. There is absolutely no characterization. There is little description - the setting, Boston, is mentioned in passing. And the plot should have and could have been interesting, but instead was turned into a meaningless mess with homophobic overtones. Every few pages, the author writes "let's recap" and sums up the miniscule plot to that point, as if we readers are backwards students. Um, with a book this short (took less than 1/2 hour to read) and a plot this dry, the recap really isn't needed.

The story revolves around Miranda Murphy, supposedly a detective, and a dead body found in a house that is not that of the owner. Miranda comes up with far-fetched theories (without supporting evidence) that the author wants us to believe are credible resolutions to the crime. Due to bad writing, other characters address Miranda by her first name, instead of as "Detective". Due to bad editing, Miranda is often referred to as "he".

So, let's recap: No characterization, no plot, skip this one.

HASH(0x8ca48e7c) out of 5 stars "Deception" is based on a unique idea, which I haven't seen in other mysteries or crime fiction books. I won't tell you the endi 19 July 2012

"Deception" is based on a unique idea, which I haven't seen in other mysteries or crime fiction books. I won't tell you the ending, but you'll be surprised by why all the murders took place and who was behind them.

The main character of this book is Detective Miranda Murphy, who is very interesting to watch. She is not afraid of stepping on other people's toes, she gets what she wants, and she loves Pawn Stars, a great TV show by the way.

There are a few twists that will keep you thrilled from the beginning to the end.

It's a fast read, and you can finish it in one sitting.
I recommend it to any reader of mysteries or police detective thrillers.

HASH(0x8f09612c) out of 5 stars Thrilling 26 Aug. 2012

This fast-paced murder mystery has plenty of action, which keeps the story moving forward. There aren't enough strong women leads in books, so I really liked how the character of Miranda was handled. I don't like to give spoilers so I can't comment too much on the plot, other to say it was fascinating. Definitely worth reading.

HASH(0x8ce019f0) out of 5 stars Fast-Paced Murder Mystery 11 Sept. 2012
By Gina Wang - Published on Amazon.com

This is a murder mystery. Our protagonist is a strong female character, Miranda Murphy, who is a detective investigating the murder of a man who was found in the home of a multi-millionaire's son. This book contains plenty of action and twists, but the author did a good job making sure that the readers did not get lost in the action and recap on the clues. As a reader, you feel like you're thinking through the facts like Miranda would does, which keeps you invested in the mystery. This was a fun read and the end tied things up well.

HASH(0x8ce15e28) out of 5 stars A Murder Mystery That Keeps You Guessing 4 Sept. 2012
By Avid Reader Reviews - Published on Amazon.com

`Deception' is murder mystery that keeps you engrossed at captivated. From the first page of the story you are drawn in. Who is the murderer? Why did he kill the wrong person and who was supposed to be killed instead. I love suspense novels that keep you on the edge of your seat in anxiety. Sometimes you just can't stop reading a book because you want to know why, who, and how so badly.

The detective in this book Miranda Murphy is a smart cookie. I love strong female leads in detective books. There is a lot going on in this book what with wrong bodies and mysterious characters yet the author allows the reader to catch up with the storyline; always making sure that we have every clue that the detective gets. It's great because you feel like a detective yourself trying to solve the mystery.
