Product Description

Sunday: traditionally a day of rest. For estate agent Trev Irwin it’s a day for recovering from hangovers; watching TV in just his underpants; and pretending that his latent psychic abilities haven’t ruined his life. This Sunday is going to be different. For starters he won’t be doing anything in just his underpants.

For a devout sceptic like Trev, there’s nothing worse than finding out that all the supernatural beings whose existence you’ve denied for years are not only real, but are mostly trying to kill you. He’s lucky to have his Granddad for support; the old man is affiliated to the Custodians, a clandestine group whose role is to keep the peace among Britain’s supernatural creatures, as well as keeping them out of the newspapers.

However the Custodians’ resources are spread thinly and Trev finds himself roped in to help. The job seems simple: investigate a suspected supernatural incident in a graveyard and report back. He’s even got company, in the form of Oscar, Granddad’s sardonic possessed cat.

No problem, then. Go in, have a look, get out. No way that can go horribly wrong, right?

“Deceased Estate” is a standalone novella set in the Brackenford Cycle universe, taking place between the events of “Location, Location, Damnation” and the upcoming sequel “Hangman’s Pond”.

More About the Author

Hello everyone, I'm Nick Moseley and this is my author bio.

(I tried writing this bio in the third person, but frankly it made me feel a bit silly. Although doing it in the first person makes it feel like an online dating profile instead... sigh.)

I'm in my thirties and have been writing for my own amusement for as long as I can remember. In May 2013 I published my urban fantasy novel "Location, Location, Damnation" on Amazon Kindle, and in the process discovered that - to my mild surprise - after thirty years of scribbling I had finally written something that people would pay to read. The book is the first in a series called "The Brackenford Cycle" and will be followed by book two, "Hangman's Pond", just as soon as I can get it finished.

The genres I enjoy reading are fantasy, SF, horror and crime, and my own work contains elements from all these. My favourite authors include Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Jim Butcher, Ian Rankin, Stephen King and Jasper Fforde, among many others.

After reading Location, Location, Damnation (The Brackenford Cycle) I have been eagerly waiting for the sequel Hangman's Pond. I was very happy to find this novella in the interim. Deceased Estate contains the same mix of a fantastic story with a sense of humour and sheer fun as the first book. Great to see more of Trev and Oscar and the development of their characters.

A thoroughly enjoyable story which has only made me more anxious to read book two!

If you haven't tried this author yet I would strongly recommend that you do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! 6 Oct 2013

I've read Nick Moseley's other book and thoroughly enjoyed it, in fact I'd go so far as to say he is now my favourite author . So, I was thrilled when I discovered this one and read it within 24 hours. It, once again, gripped me from the beginning and the story flowed wonderfully. I would burst out laughing at times and my children would ask me what I was laughing at and I'd have to explain it was my book! I love the way Trev and Oscar speak to each other, it's just so funny! Brilliant book and I cannot wait to read the next one (the only trouble is I don't get anything done!)
