3.0 out of 5 stars Cold sound and technical errors prevent this dsic from shining. 10 Sep 2011

While I mostly enjoyed the interpretations found here (especially Faun and Nocturnes), I heard too many loose rhythms, intonation issues, and overbearing percussion sounds in the performance of La Mer to recommend this disc. Additionally, the sound quality in most of the works accentuated the worst qualities of digital recording by offering up a glassy, brittle, and overall unsatisfying representation of the sound of a symphony orchestra.

This disc would be a good choice if you're primarily interested in the Nocturnes and/or Rhapsody, and the price is right.

Considering the huge number of quality recordings of Debussy's orchestral music, why settle for second rate playing and sound quality?
