The cakes in this book look great and the different recipes sound delicious. However, I have had problems with some of the recipes, as I note other reviewers have too. I made the fruit cake as the top tier of my daughter's wedding cake, exactly as per recipe, but I could see as I put it into the tin that it was about half as much quantity as I would have expected, and not surprisingly the cake turned out too shallow. I ended up using Mich Turner's recipe for the same size tin and it turned out perfectly. I contacted Debbie Brown about this problem and she said she would investigate, but has never got back to me. (She did admit that many of the cakes shown in the books are iced dummy cakes).
I think this book has great ideas, but treat the recipes with caution.
