Product Description

This fascinating video takes us through the turbulent 16th Century borderlands of England and Scotland in search of the Border Reivers in the company of George MacDonald Fraser and Eric Robson. The Reivers were arsonists, kidnappers, murderers, protection racketeers, rustlers and thieves....they added words like Blackmail and Bereaved to the English language, yet, in a fashion they were 'honourable men'.

This review is from: Debateable Lands [DVD] (DVD)
This is a brilliant DVD. I watched it right through wiht only brief breaks. It features and is largely based on the work of George Macdonald Fraser, who was brought up in the area and wrote a briliant book (The Steel Bonnets) on the topic, and visits some historic sites in the Border area, including the well concealed grave of Kinmont Willie, a famous character of the time. I found this fascinating and will watch it again.
