What can one say about Margeret Weis and Tracy Hickman?Together theyve given us the readers the Dragonlance Saga which has left us completely spellbound! And yet they simply do it again with the Death Gate Cycle which has left us simply gasping for breath and craving for more! The Seventh Gate being the last book of the series, concludes the tragic tale of the Sartans and Patryns. The reader can REALLY feel the anguish and hopelessness of the situation, and the authors have done a fantastic job portraying the images. The series itself also in some ways realtes to real life dilemmas like racism and prejidous as with the case of the Sartans and Patryns. In this epic finale, the Sartan and Patryns finally realise that they must put aside their own differences and battle thier true enemy and strive for survival. This book is indeed a tragic tale, and yet again Margaret WEis and Tracy Hickman have shown that they really do belong at the top of the mountain! A MUST have for all fantasy collectors, the entire saga and this book simply cant be put down!

While I loved the first six books in the series, I was really disappointed by the ending- it seems to rely on many, many Deus Ex Machina additions to resolve the conflicts set up in the first six books... In particular, I didn't like the circumstances of Haplo's reappearance ("Just kidding, everybody! Group hug!"), and was very disappointed at the circumstances of Sang-drax's destruction.

Honestly, it seemed to me as if Wies and Hickman didn't really know how to end the series, so they just threw something together at the last minute. There are at least one or two major plot holes in this one. While I'd like to stress that it's not a BAD book, it's also definitley not the best in the series.

I thought that this book was an outstanding conclusion to an outstanding series. It kept you hooked all along and there was never a lull in the pace or the action. This series should easily rank up there with the best of them- well written, meaningfull and just good reading. I'd recommend it to anybody.
