“The construction is flawless”

Review

"The construction is flawless." Daily Mail "Must be read twice, once for enjoyment and once to see how the wheels go round." The Times "The main alibi is of the first brilliance ! the descriptive work hits, as it were, the Nile on the head." Observer "A peach of a case for Poirot. I take my hat off to the author for as ingenious an alibi as can well be imagined." Sunday Times

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Christie's greatest! 30 July 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Death On the Nile was the first Agatha Christie book I read and I immediately became a fan. Christie shows a love for Egyptian culture and history and you'll never be able to work out the solution- it's surprising yet at the same time a convincing piece of work.

If you haven't read Christie before, this is a good book to start you off as it boasts Poirot's (and Christie's) unique genius.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books by the Master of Mystery! 19 Jun 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Death on the Nile is propably the second best book by Agatha Christie, fallowing And Then There Were None. The Cunning Christie keeps you guessing until the end of the story and then picks the murderer as the last one you would expect.Another great book by Agatha Christie.

5.0 out of 5 stars An early cruise on the Nile 6 May 2011
Format:Audio CD
So I booked a winter holiday next year in Egypt which will include a cruise on the Nile. How then could I not read the book in advance? Well the Kindle edition was fascinating but the audiobook - wow! I have, for some while, been listening to Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld series read by Tony Robinson and they have set a very high standard but, considering the age of this story, I think that David Suchet gives a most entertaining read - even the english Colonel speaks with a beautiful 'Jonathan Woss' lisp!
I am disabled and so like to take a flask of coffee and park my car up on the moor, sit back and listen. A great afternoon break.
I shall be purchasing more Agatha Christie audiobooks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relaxing to float away with 20 Mar 2007
Format:Audio CD
Death on the Nile is one of the best Agatha Christie's ever - and has been presented in a variety of formats, and this is one of the most enjoyable. David Suchet (Poirot himself from the rather fabulous television series) reads the tale of murder and mayhem in Egypt with a flair and humour which is engaging and thoroughly entertaining. Even though you may be very familiar with the story, Suchet's reading gives added dimensions to Christie's characters, and allows characters to speak for themselves, as it were.

The only reason I did not give 5 stars was that his vocalisation of Colonel Race tended to grate on my ear after a while, but it is a small complaint for such an enjoyable audio book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fiendish puzzle, set on a Nile cruise. 6 Jun 2001
Format:Paperback
Poirot again the detective, as a strange group assemble for a Nile cruise. There are whole hosts of plot twist, several subplots and a large number of red-herrings? Top notch Christie and a nightmare to solve.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great! 13 Nov 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is a great murder mystery. Everyone over the age of ten will enjoy it. There are three murders, but none are particularly distressing for the reader. It shows the greed and vulgarity of the human race as well as the cleverness and the cunning.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really loved this book!!!! 13 July 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I thought this book really showed what love can make people do and how coldhearted people can be. It also shows what people will do for money. Altogether, I found this a great book!
