Product Description

Student archaeologist Millie Sanderson is hoping to uncover an ancient chariot burial site in Wensleydale but work is interrupted when her housemate, Vrishti Bhatt, disappears. Inspector Ernie Brown is not concerned and dismisses a hit-and-run accident that involves her lecturer as an ‘unfortunate coincidence’.

Meanwhile Millie and her friends are pursuing their own investigations……..

4.0 out of 5 stars Murder Meandering through the Dales 10 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really did enjoy this book, although I speak as someone interested in the Yorkshire Dales and archeology, and having walked some of the footpaths mentioned in the story.
I thought most of the characters reacted to the murders in a true-to-life way, especially Millie, and I really felt Nina's frustration with her male bosses in the Police Force.
The only drawback for me was that story seemed a bit drawn out, there was no sense of urgency, and no tension or excitement at the climax, although all the loose ends were neatly tied up and there were a few scattered clues to the murderer's identity.
I will definitely read the other books in the series, if only for the characterisation and locations.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read 30 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have to say, this has a good plot and I especially like the archaeological aspects and the wonderful settings of York and the Dales. What let it down a little for me was the complete absence of pace and urgency, which I would have expected from a crime thriller. In addition, the characters could have been written with a little more depth - especially Millie, who seened a tad naive to me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story set near me 19 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I liked this book and felt connected to it through the location as it's set in a location not too far away from me. The characters were believable and there were a few red herrings along the way - very enjoyable read.

The depiction of the students was poor, and the supposed tutors were even worse, but despite this I enjoyed the story.
