Another winner for Deryn Lake and John Rawlings,
This review is from: Death at the Wedding Feast (John Rawlings, Apothecary) (Hardcover)
This latest John Rawlings novel is beautifully crafted and a cracking good read. Deryn Lake brings the Georgian age vividly to life and takes the Apothecary back to Devon where he finds all sorts of shennanigans going on among the "great and good" of the county. John is faced with mysteries to solve and a personal dilemma to contemplate. Great stuff!

Highly atmospheric mystery,
By Sandra "mystery lover" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Death at the Wedding Feast (John Rawlings, Apothecary) (Hardcover)
This was one of the most interesting of the John Rawlings series.I liked reading the latest news of John, his aristocratic stepfather, his psychic little daughter Rose, and his fascinating mistress Elizabeth. However, certain aspects of the book seem at odds with the social realities of the day. For example, Rawlings, a shopkeeper and therefore tradesman, would be unlikely to move in the same circles as earls and countesses. Nevertheless, the books are highly atmospheric and quite enjoyable. |
