Academic Maria Gutierrez has travelled to Seville to spend a month studying police procedures. But shortly after she arrives there are several vicious murders, which is the last thing that detective Felipe Torillo and his team need, particularly during Holy Week when the city has an influx of tourists.
The Angel Brothers, two controversial modern artists, are found dead in a killing that emulates a famous painting and Gutierrez has identified a lead which the police have missed. This not only causes friction within the force but also brings her to the attention of the killer .....
David Hewson's series of Italian crime thrillers featuring Detective Nic Costa have proved increasingly popular over the years. So this may explain why Death In Seville, originally published as Semana Santa in 1996, has been re-issued.
Like the Nic Costa series, this book has a solid mystery, plenty of atmosphere and strong characters. And since it's a stand-alone novel, it's a good introduction to a quality crime writer

I like David Hewsons work, and this was a really good "Gripping story" all the way through....was surprised to read some of the "saucy bits" during the read, which Ive never associated with Davids writing before! but well done and recommended! thankyou for prompt delivery and well packaged. Happy New Year!

Just to warn any other readers that this book has previously been issued under the title Semana Santa. I got caught having, as I thought, purchased two exciting novels for Christmas only to find that they are the same book. The book itself is excellent but not enough to justify buying two copies!
