Product Description

Synopsis
As Detective Superintendent Mark Pemberton investigates the death of a woman nicknamed The Princess, he finds himself asking the question - accident or murder? The last of the Milverdale family, The Princess has been found shot in the grounds of her Estate. Was it a stray bullet from a poacher's gun, or did someone deliberately set out to shoot her? Pemberton suspects murder as he uncovers tumours suggesting there are many who would wish The Princess harm. Nonetheless, Pemberton becomes convinced that the key to her death is a deep family secret. Could there be an heir? And how far would he go to gain his inheritance?

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading, 18 May 2002
Nicholas Rhea is a pseudonym of the prolific crime fiction writer Peter N. Walker. In this novel Detective Superintendent Mark Pemberton investigates the murder of Alicia Milverdale the last of the Milverdale dynasty. She is not really a princess but claims descent from King Charles II. I found the book a tad slow with whole passages given to description of the people and the countryside. I will read his work again be it under the name of one of his other five pseudonyms.
