Product Description

Synopsis
When a terrorist bomb explodes in Bostons Logan Airport, Admiral Arnold Morgan, the Presidents most trusted advisor, moves quickly to break the cell in the United States and ship the Islamic fanatics to Guantanamo Bay. In response, the Hamas high command, meeting in a terrorist cell in Gaza, hatches a vicious plan to assassinate the Admiral the minute he leaves the United States. Morgans old nemesis, Ravi Rashood, leads this international attack and attempt to eliminate him. The exhilarating chase swirls through southern Ireland, London, and Scotland. Desperate to protect the Admiral at all costs, the President must summon the most dangerous Navy Seal team that the USA has to offer. This gripping and provocative thriller displays both Robinson and his hero Morgan at their peak.

4.0 out of 5 stars Back to his absolute best, 7 Jul 2008
By Red (Liverpool) - See all my reviews

Since reading Nimitz Class I have read all of Robinsons books, but somehow none of them quite lived up to it. The suspense, the tension, the guessing that accompanied that great work have steadily diminished from Patrick Robinsons writing.

If I could sum up this one in one word it would be Brilliant!!. After reading the synopsis I suspected that the author had not utilised his usual sources of advice on military matters and the acknowledgements confirm this - the result is not the usual detail-perfect work we have come to expect. Key capabilities of some countries is not correct but at the end of the day It`s fiction!! I couldnt put the book down until I had finished it.
At the same time, the usual ensemble of characters is beginning to grow old and tired. As someone who has read each book in order of writing, it's disappointing to see established characters growing stale and dull because of a lack of organic growth and development.

If you're a first time reader of Patrick Robinson, try Nimitz Class as well. Long term readers, my advice would be to give this one a try it is very good and hope the author returns to consulting his usual sources for his next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fitting end, 18 Jul 2008

I have read all of Patrick Robinsons books and although they can be predictable I have really enjoyed them all.

The last one is a fitting end and although you could probably guess the ending it is still a damn good yarn as my father would say!

3.0 out of 5 stars Boring superhuman characters ruin a semi decent plot
I have read all of Patrick Robinson's books. They are good page turners but recently I think the characters have started to get rather boring and cliched.
