I received the DVD today (08-02-2006) and soon as got home from worked I watched it... or tried to watch it. The sound is great, the band is better than ever, the stageset is magnificent and it is very theatrical again. All true, but it is completely ruined by steves editing. Rock in Rio is very fast, but it doesn't give you a headache (and naucious)or destroys the gigs atmosphere. The editing on Death on the Road does. On top of that, the stereo disc is screwed up from halfway Brave New World till the end of the concert.

The bonus disc however is better than Rock in Rio. Making of the album, behind the scenes, interviewing fans and the standard photogallerys. Still lack of depth though.

Conclusion:
The concert is ruined because of the editing and the problems with the stereodisc so 2 out of 5 stars.

The bonusfeatures are okay, but lack of depth so 3 out of 5 stars.

great concert footage...

comes with 3 discs

#1 5.1 surround concert

#2 stereo concert

#3 docos, videos etc

The concert is excellent but the stereo disc skips. And I believe my disc is not the only one to do so

Also the editing is too rapid. Less than half a second on each bit. What happenned to the old maiden videos where you could see what was happenning?

This aside the extras disc is fab.

Good interviews, videos, behind the scenes etc etc

All in all, just 3 stars...but what really annoys me is that i WANTED it to me more, i WANTED to like it more...but dodgy discs and crap editing is no excuse

The actual show looked and sounded great, but the rapid MTV style camera shots grow tiresome after a few songs (I like seeing the lads play their solos without the cameras darting from place to place). As with many, my stereo disc crashes during Brave New World, and I'll be looking for a refund!

I nearly didn't buy it ..
If, like me, you were put off getting this initially because of what other reviewers have said about the editing etc then think again about picking it up. I'm very glad I did. Read more

If I had 1 DVD I'd be ecstatic with this one!
If I could only have one DVD, I'd be ecstatic to have this one. The sound quality is phenomenal, the track listing is superb, and as a whole it's out of this world!!! Read more

Blinding - in more than one sense
Yes, as per previous reviews, it is edited at breakneck speed but to say it is unwatchable is rubbish - but I hope Steve takes note and slows down a bit on the next one! Read more

Slow down Steve.
This is a fantastic gig. The songs are all well played and the band put on a good show. It's just too bad about the frantic edit. Read more

Ridiculous editing ruins this dvd.
The Death on the Road dvd finds Maiden in typical top notch form. However, the editing is simply ridiculous. So much that I can't watch it. Read more

Stereo discs are faulty.
The 5.1 disc plays without fault, however if you're dvd player cannot play in 5.1 sound the essence of the concert is lost. Read more
