Advance Praise for Death Notice
"With "Death Notice," talented newcomer Todd Ritter takes readers on a roller-coaster ride of thrills and chills. Set in the small Pennsylvania town of Perry Hollow, the book captures the essence of small-town life. The characters, particularly Chief of Police Kat Campbell, are memorable and shine in their roles. The crimes are brutal with vivid details readers of crime fiction will happily devour--and beg for more. Ritter has conceived a mystery that will remain in your memory long after you finish the book. Just don't read it when you're alone."
--Linda Castillo, "New York Times" bestselling author of "Pray for Silence."
""Death Notice" is a tense and twisty whodunit from a fresh new voice in fiction. With well-drawn characters and spare, unflinching prose, Todd Ritter offers an atmospheric and emotionally rich debut. Mystery fans will love their visit to Ritter's Perry Hollow."
--Lisa Unger, "New York Times" bestselling author o

The story centres around a small town in Pennsylvania called Perry Hollow, not much happens in the town and the Police Chief Kat Campbell rarely has much investigating to do until one day a serial killer decides to strike in her town.

You really feel like you know the town and the charaters in this book , the author goes into great detail about the setting and the characters. The fictional town of Perry Hollow sounds like a beautiful town. Kat Campbell was born and raisded in Perry Hollow and loves her home town, she is a single parent to a child that suffers from Down Syndrome. When the first murder occurs she feels unable to leave the state police to investigate the murder as this is her town and it is her duty to protect it.

I love a murder mystery book and this is no exception, just when you think you have worked out who the serial killer is another twist is thrown in. I could not put my Kindle down and I have now gone on to download Todd Ritters' other Kindle book a short story 'Vicious Circle'. I hope this book is equally as good and I also hope that his other book 'Bad Moon' is released on Kindle soon.

If you love murder mystery books you will not be dissapointed with this and at only £0.99 you have nothing to lose!

New to the crime fiction scene is Todd Ritter and what a debut novel he has came up with here! The sleepy town of Perry Hollow has never had a murder, that is until one cold winter's morning when police chief Kat Campbell gets called out to a scene where a home-made coffin has been left at the side of the road with a body of a local farmer inside, embalmed, with his lips sewn shut and a deep cut across his throat. With help from the state police and an obituary writer for the town's paper who receives death notices just before the killings have happened, Kat is thrown into a grisly murder case against an extremely clever and sadistic serial killer dubbed The Grim Reaper.

The town is so well written and with so much character that I felt like I'd actually been to Perry Hollow after reading this. The characters are interesting and believable, each with their own troubled pasts and back-stories. The dialogue between the characters is excellent and the book is extremely easy to read yet is also a real thinker as the mystery of who the killer was threw me off course on a number of occasions and the reason why was even more of a surprise. The pace of the story never slows down for a second and was so exciting that I finished it in just one sitting.

Hopefully Death Notice is just a start of a great series of books as this was one of the best debuts I have read in a long time. Todd Ritter is definitely a name I am going to keep an eye on in the future - I can see he has two other books based in the same town (Vicious Circle and Bad Moon) so I will read these as soon as I can. Highly recommended.

This started extremely well, great characters and premise and account of a small town rocked by a series of unexplained deaths. Really enjoyed the balance of local cop and FBI detective along with the seperate story of Henry Goll the obituary columnist. Sadly it was all too easy to guess who the killer was, and the motivation for his crimes was somewhat unexplained. Would read more by this author.

A good "nuts-and-bolts" crime thriller
I enjoyed this book. It's a pretty effective thriller. The prose can be a bit flat and the dialogue was often matter-of-fact, uninspired or cliched, but I cared about the... Read more
