It’s the message that nobody wants to hear…

Perry Hollow, Pennsylvania, is a sleepy little town. That is
until George Winnick’s body is found in a homemade coffin,
his lips sewn shut and his veins pumped with embalming fluid.

Sickening as the discovery is, it becomes even more so when
police chief Kat Campbell finds that the local newspaper
received a death notice for Winnick – before he was killed…

Kat is out of her depth, but she’s not about to sit by while
someone terrorizes her community. Will her efforts be enough
to stop a twisted killer before another corpse appears?

“With Death Notice, talented newcomer Todd Ritter takes readers on a roller-coaster ride of thrills and chills. Ritter has conceived a mystery that will remain in your memory long after you finish the book. Just don’t read it when you’re alone.”

Advance Praise for Death Notice

"With "Death Notice", talented newcomer Todd Ritter takes readers on a roller-coaster ride of thrills and chills. Set in the small Pennsylvania town of Perry Hollow, the book captures the essence of small-town life. The characters, particularly Chief of Police Kat Campbell, are memorable and shine in their roles. The crimes are brutal with vivid details readers of crime fiction will happily devour--and beg for more. Ritter has conceived a mystery that will remain in your memory long after you finish the book. Just don't read it when you're alone."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book filled with suspense! 6 Jan. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The story centres around a small town in Pennsylvania called Perry Hollow, not much happens in the town and the Police Chief Kat Campbell rarely has much investigating to do until one day a serial killer decides to strike in her town.

You really feel like you know the town and the charaters in this book , the author goes into great detail about the setting and the characters. The fictional town of Perry Hollow sounds like a beautiful town. Kat Campbell was born and raisded in Perry Hollow and loves her home town, she is a single parent to a child that suffers from Down Syndrome. When the first murder occurs she feels unable to leave the state police to investigate the murder as this is her town and it is her duty to protect it.

I love a murder mystery book and this is no exception, just when you think you have worked out who the serial killer is another twist is thrown in. I could not put my Kindle down and I have now gone on to download Todd Ritters' other Kindle book a short story 'Vicious Circle'. I hope this book is equally as good and I also hope that his other book 'Bad Moon' is released on Kindle soon.

If you love murder mystery books you will not be dissapointed with this and at only £0.99 you have nothing to lose!

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant debut novel 9 Jan. 2012
By Dr Evil TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition
New to the crime fiction scene is Todd Ritter and what a debut novel he has came up with here! The sleepy town of Perry Hollow has never had a murder, that is until one cold winter's morning when police chief Kat Campbell gets called out to a scene where a home-made coffin has been left at the side of the road with a body of a local farmer inside, embalmed, with his lips sewn shut and a deep cut across his throat. With help from the state police and an obituary writer for the town's paper who receives death notices just before the killings have happened, Kat is thrown into a grisly murder case against an extremely clever and sadistic serial killer dubbed The Grim Reaper.

The town is so well written and with so much character that I felt like I'd actually been to Perry Hollow after reading this. The characters are interesting and believable, each with their own troubled pasts and back-stories. The dialogue between the characters is excellent and the book is extremely easy to read yet is also a real thinker as the mystery of who the killer was threw me off course on a number of occasions and the reason why was even more of a surprise. The pace of the story never slows down for a second and was so exciting that I finished it in just one sitting.

Hopefully Death Notice is just a start of a great series of books as this was one of the best debuts I have read in a long time. Todd Ritter is definitely a name I am going to keep an eye on in the future - I can see he has two other books based in the same town (Vicious Circle and Bad Moon) so I will read these as soon as I can. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best I've read all year. 14 Oct. 2013
By Steve G
Format:Paperback
The prologue grabbed me from the beginning. I'm not one to stick with a book if it goes cold on me in the first couple of chapters. This one was still hot at the end. So, without having you read a review that's as long as the book, All I can say is. BUY IT. IT WILL PROBABLY BE THE BEST YOU HAVE READ TOO.

1.0 out of 5 stars too clichéd for words 19 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The last two reviews of this book sum up the way I felt when reading it,
Nothing like spotlighting the red herrings, in one case a transformer blew up casting light into the car which *surprise surprise* conveniently had ALL the tools needed for these murders right there on the passenger seat, like that would happen... and like that would happen when there were still chapters to go, so you knew it wasn't the right one... if you add in the typical 'crime' stereotypes' police chief with problems, aided by state cop with problems, complicated by others with problems... all been done before. Let's have a police chief who just gets on with the job, goes home, doesn't drink, has a loving family and no debts... please ... the genre is crying out for realism!
This is a very weak book. Add the fact that there were about half a million hanging sentences which, as an editor, drive me insane, and it is obvious to all that this writer needed a very good editor who should have sent it back for rewrites, revisions and logic to be put in before publishing it with such a fanfare.
I will not be looking for anything else by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping read to the very End 19 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Found this an easy flowing read which kept you guessing to the very end. A well thought out plot. Personally could have dispensed with some or the descriptive sections but there again book has to be padded out somehow.
Will definitely be buying more by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Murder Mystery Thriller 15 Oct. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Death Notice is a definite read for anyone who enjoys reading murder mysteries or even watching them. The style of writing is really good and I had a clear image in my head of every action; really felt like I could've been watching a horror film it was that atmospheric and realistic-feeling, the images seemed projected out of the pages. The building up of tension was really impressive and the gory descriptions of the murders added to the general creepy feel.

I really hope Todd Ritter carries on writing books as well as this, because this is now one of my favourite books and I'd be surprised if he didn't have a long career, based on how much I enjoyed this book.
