5.0 out of 5 stars A great spin off for fans of Death Note!, 14 Jan 2009
Well I am a big Death Note fan to say the least! Its my all time best manga for me. I enjoyed all of the high level mind games and overall plot. I also enjoyed the films, the anime and also the spin off novel as well.

Now this is the new movie a spin off for L from Death Note. I found this movie a little flawed at points. Plus the story since it is not based of the main plotlines isnt quite up to the normal level.

However.

I give this movie 5 stars not because of a budget or amazing plot. It is just a very good watch with lots of fun. It makes a great add on for Death Note fans who want more.

Beware if you did not like L from Death Note you might not enjoy this film. Neverless good film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, L is different, But films are not manga and same author, 7 Oct 2008
l! L will always be better in mangas, But I must admit I cannot think of a better actor, even if they have broken a few rules. And a least this was written by the same author. I try to think of films as separate but similar stories to there manga and anime counterparts.
The same rules apply to spin-off (which this seems to be more than a sequel) and sequels. But still THIS FILM ROCKS!
Also the scientists are trying to kill me so its strangely relevant to my life... My friends found the addition of scientist very amusing.... */cries. Does no-one else find lab coats terrifying! They're evil!. And im really the only crazy-obsessed death note fan so apparently its even funnier.... (they prefer my hime and ouran high).
Yay L! Trust me, this films rocks way more than my expectations. Now whether or not to buy the region 2 version to go with my region 3 and 0 versions....
Completely different story from the deathnote films and leaves you craving sweets for months... so far. But IT'S A FILM ALL ABOUT L!

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok film in a beautiful case with a major fault., 3 Jan 2009
This film is ok. Not bad but not great either. Kenichi Matsuyama's portrayal of L is fantastic, as it was in the first 2 films. Though normally I am unforgiving of 'poetic liscence' I continue to forgive these movies for their inaccuracies as the films are so enjoyable to watch. Watching L change throughout the film is at times funny and sometimes a little sad as he his far more humanised than in the books/anime/1st 2 films. And I think I may of at one point glimpsed socks on his feet! A crime against the name of L. My main issue with this film is that from scene 19 to the end the is picture headache-inducingly jittery.

2.0 out of 5 stars The juddering makes this DVD unwatchable
As a previous reviewer has stated there is a major fault with this DVD, from scene 19 the picture becomes incredibly juddery, so much so that I found it practically unwatchable. Read more
