Bev Morriss's seventh outing, at the skilful hands of Maureen Carter, is sharp, fast-moving, and filled with the delightful edginess that all admirers of this excellent series will recognise and enjoy. This time the plot focuses on a missing child - and intriguing hints are sprinkled through the book that the case may be linked to an earlier, similar one.
There are thrills and surprises a-plenty, and the incorrigible Detective Sergeant Morriss is at the heart of the investigations - at the same time grappling with her own emotions, as Ms Carter gives the wonderful will-they/won't-they romance between Bev and her boss a whole new spin.
Death Line takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride, in which the city streets of Birmingham and its people are brought vividly to life.
I loved it!
