Book Description

A woman fated to die. A vision that could save her ...

Nicolas Crystan, struggling to cope with his traumatic past, shuffles through life keeping mostly to himself ... until he has a disturbing daydream of a woman's death. At first he tries to forget it, but when real life mimics the daydream, he realises it was no ordinary fantasy—it was a vision of the future. To save a life, he must act fast.

When Juliet Maystone escapes death, defying fate, she becomes 'displaced' in this world. All she wants is to return to her bustling day-to-day routine, successfully running her own business, but as hard as she tries, she can't ignore that things have changed for her. She has to face up to the fact that being 'displaced' comes with an unexpected ability.

On Lansin Island, a quaint place with a dark history of its own, Nicolas and Juliet must learn to use their newfound abilities and work together to unravel a mystery more connected to Nicolas than he ever imagined ...

Book One of The Psychic Visions and Restless Ghosts Mystery Series (a.k.a. The Lansin Island Paranormal Suspense Series)

Interview with the Author

Q: What characters and supernatural beings can readers expect from your series?

A: The two main characters are Nicolas Crystan, a young psychic man whose clairvoyant visions lead him to act on the events he has foreseen--causing unforeseen consequences--and Juliet Maystone, a young woman who becomes ‘displaced’ as a result of Nick’s actions and begins to see ghosts. There’s also a famous medium who believes she is a true witch, and the island is full of Pagans, who may or may not have real psychic abilities. The other supernatural creatures and paranormal/fantasy elements should remain a surprise, but readers can expect the series to fall into multiple genres: clairvoyant fiction, ghost mysteries, witchcraft fiction, psychic romance, wicca fiction, pagan fiction, and so on.

Q: What order should The Psychic Visions and Restless Ghosts Mystery Series be read in?

A:
- A Death Displaced
- A Note Below (A Lansin Island Short Story)
- A Body Displaced
- A Spirit Displaced (coming soon)

Q: Why do you offer the first book, A Death Displaced, for free?

A: I’ve often trawled through Amazon searching terms like ‘free supernatural romance’, ‘free ghost stories’ and ‘free cozy mysteries’. It can be hard for readers to put their trust in a new author, so I wanted to make this psychic fiction series as accessible as possible.

Q: What inspired you to write this series?

A: I’m a massive fan of top fantasy authors such as George R. R. Martin and top paranormal authors such as Charlaine Harris and Anne Rice. My goal with this series was to create a blend between exciting urban fantasy books, like the Sookie Stackhouse Novels, and the scope of an epic fantasy series. Each book revolves around a main mystery, usually a missing person/murder mystery, but also leaves overarching story threads open that are expanded upon across the series.

Q: You’re a British author; do you think this paranormal mystery series would appeal to fans of cozy British mysteries?

A: If you're a fan of British mysteries by British authors, then please give my series a try! As a kind of veneer to the deeper, overarching plot lines, the series has a small-town, cozy murder mystery feel to it. It also puts its own twist on witchcraft history and witch burnings, weaving the history of the island’s dark past into the unfolding murder mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review 6 Aug. 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A great read; the characters are very real and relatable and their speech is true-to-life. I found it hard to put the book down, and I could easily re-read it more than once. There is mystery and intrigue in the book; suprises and lots of details that keep your mind guessing and wanting more. This is not the genre of book I would normally go for, but it was very compelling and I enjoyed every page. As the first in a series, it's a good starting point and I look forward to more from the author, and I would recommend this to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was immersed in this book. 14 Dec. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A Death Displaced had me absorbed, reading it to the extent of ignoring my friends and family! It didn't take me long to read the entire thing, but there were so many layers and little bits of detail that I'm thinking of re-reading it already so I'm ready for the next one. I recommend this book to anyone... the characters are well rounded and realistic, the descriptions made me feel like I was there myself and the plot was intriguing and full of mystery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping read 5 Nov. 2012
By Alex
Format:Kindle Edition
The book has a gripping story line and the main character Nicolas is the perfect example of the every-man, with insecurities and family issues that make him seem so believable and easy to relate to. Then there is workaholic Juliet Maystone with her own family issues and baggage from a near death experience. The first couple of chapters set up the characters and gave some interesting threads that were picked up later on in the book. It is more of a fantasy book than thriller but that does not in any sense detract from a really good book

The pace of the book slows down slightly in between the first meeting of Nicholas and Juliet and the occurrence that forces Juliet to seek out Nicholas again. The fantasy element comes from supernatural abilities that turned into something more sinister. The romance element is quite obvious between Nicolas and Juliet and maybe slightly predictable. Overall I found this a really enjoyable read that has areas for improvement, but read as a really good author in the making.

5.0 out of 5 stars A spiritual, murder mystery debut. 3 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
A Death Displaced starts with a high impact daydream, both in subject matter and in terms of the consequences for the main character, Nick and those around him. The setting is idyllic, people and events ghastly and then poetic - all well described.
Nick and Juliet are already struggling with their personal lives, in wholly different ways and things now unravel even more for them, however we sometimes have to feel worse before we can feel better. No, Mulder and Scully relationship here; as kismet seems to have already decided their fate in that regard, but when death has already been cheated, who knows?

I have a feeling that a mythology is going to build as the series progresses that will only add depth to this first book and its curious, spooky events. I utterly enjoyed this book and await with bated breath to see how Nick and Juliet grow, both in their personal, ordinary lives and their newly starting extra-ordinary lives.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall a good read 4 Aug. 2012
By Gerry
Format:Kindle Edition
It was a slow start to the book but once the different plots started to come together, it kept me intrigued enough to continue. Did feel the end was a bit rushed whereas at the beginning there was quite a lot of detail. However, inspite of this, I enjoyed the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Ghost Story 20 Dec. 2014
By tassy
Format:Kindle Edition
A Death Displaced (Lansin Island #1) by Andrew Butcher is a tremendous paranormal thriller full of mystery, witches and the supernatural. The author uses well-written narrative to force shivers down this reader's spine, believable dialogue that rang so true for the mid twenty set and described a setting so creepy and ghostly. Shudders!
20 something Nick works in a crystal shop, meanders through life in a dull manner until he foresees a terrible accident. Then his life is turned into one of complete disarray as he tries to piece together what his visions are telling him. The first vision saves a beautiful woman, Juliet, from a bone-crushing death and Nick is hooked by her loveliness. But she runs off, probably never to be seen again. Events take a twist with each character suffering their own version of hell, spirits, ghosts, wraiths all begging for help. Fortune and destiny combine to create a pair of ghost sleuths on the hunt for something so dark and terrifying, so monstrously evil that perhaps nothing on this Earth can possibly save them.
There is so much going for this supernatural thriller that this reader cannot wait for book #2 in this incredible supernatural series.
FIVE STARS for this supernatural mystery thriller and very highly recommended.
