Book Description

A woman fated to die. A vision that could save her ...

Nicolas Crystan, struggling to cope with his traumatic past, shuffles through life keeping mostly to himself ... until he has a disturbing daydream of a woman's death. At first he tries to forget it, but when real life mimics the daydream, he realises it was no ordinary fantasy--it was a vision of the future. To save a life, he must act fast.

When Juliet Maystone escapes death, defying fate, she becomes 'displaced' in this world. All she wants is to return to her bustling day-to-day routine, successfully running her own business, but as hard as she tries, she can't ignore that things have changed for her. She has to face up to the fact that being 'displaced' comes with an unexpected ability.

On Lansin Island, a quaint place with a dark history of its own, Nicolas and Juliet must learn to use their newfound abilities and work together to unravel a mystery more connected to Nicolas than he ever imagined ...

    5.0 out of 5 stars Review 6 Aug. 2012
    Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A great read; the characters are very real and relatable and their speech is true-to-life. I found it hard to put the book down, and I could easily re-read it more than once. There is mystery and intrigue in the book; suprises and lots of details that keep your mind guessing and wanting more. This is not the genre of book I would normally go for, but it was very compelling and I enjoyed every page. As the first in a series, it's a good starting point and I look forward to more from the author, and I would recommend this to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gripping read 5 Nov. 2012
    By Alex
    Format:Kindle Edition
The book has a gripping story line and the main character Nicolas is the perfect example of the every-man, with insecurities and family issues that make him seem so believable and easy to relate to. Then there is workaholic Juliet Maystone with her own family issues and baggage from a near death experience. The first couple of chapters set up the characters and gave some interesting threads that were picked up later on in the book. It is more of a fantasy book than thriller but that does not in any sense detract from a really good book

The pace of the book slows down slightly in between the first meeting of Nicholas and Juliet and the occurrence that forces Juliet to seek out Nicholas again. The fantasy element comes from supernatural abilities that turned into something more sinister. The romance element is quite obvious between Nicolas and Juliet and maybe slightly predictable. Overall I found this a really enjoyable read that has areas for improvement, but read as a really good author in the making.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was immersed in this book. 14 Dec. 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A Death Displaced had me absorbed, reading it to the extent of ignoring my friends and family! It didn't take me long to read the entire thing, but there were so many layers and little bits of detail that I'm thinking of re-reading it already so I'm ready for the next one. I recommend this book to anyone... the characters are well rounded and realistic, the descriptions made me feel like I was there myself and the plot was intriguing and full of mystery.

5.0 out of 5 stars A spiritual, murder mystery debut. 3 Feb. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
A Death Displaced starts with a high impact daydream, both in subject matter and in terms of the consequences for the main character, Nick and those around him. The setting is idyllic, people and events ghastly and then poetic - all well described.
Nick and Juliet are already struggling with their personal lives, in wholly different ways and things now unravel even more for them, however we sometimes have to feel worse before we can feel better. No, Mulder and Scully relationship here; as kismet seems to have already decided their fate in that regard, but when death has already been cheated, who knows?

I have a feeling that a mythology is going to build as the series progresses that will only add depth to this first book and its curious, spooky events. I utterly enjoyed this book and await with bated breath to see how Nick and Juliet grow, both in their personal, ordinary lives and their newly starting extra-ordinary lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful tale of supernatural fantasy! 7 Jan. 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition
Tales of Fantasy and The Supernatural, particularly ghosts and witches, have always been of particular interest to me, and this is one of the best and most satisfying I've ever read. It is a very rich and full read, much like enjoying a large and delicious meal!

The character Nick is one who anyone can relate to - he is quickly established as a very human person who has his fair share of problems. Then he becomes very troubled after having a vision of a woman plunging to her death (although he doesn't yet realize this is an event that is to occur in the future). Juliette is the opposite of Nick, but has plenty of her own relatable qualities.

The combination of past and present is so wonderful, it really adds the fascinating extra element to the book. I love any element of history, as so much of the past is dark, romantic and mysterious, just like the story itself. I also love the way it switches from Nick to Juliette. This double point of view always adds so much more as you are absorbing the inner monologue of two people, and acquiring so much more information and insight, so it's almost like two books rather than one.

It is pure poetry the way the story comes together - after a slightly slower start, it builds to a crescendo and an incredible ending, leaving you thirsting for more.

Like so many others, I too am now waiting hopefully for the release of the next book! I highly recommend this book, not just for lovers of fantasy and/or the supernatural, but just as a very enjoyable read in itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Enjoyable Read! 5 April 2013
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well just having looked up the author's page on Amazon and he seems so young..all credit to him he writes a good story..Excellent imagination, carefully followed through plotlines, well edited...You can tell a lot of thought and time has been put into this first book of the series and I enjoyed it so much I will happily pay to read book two when it is released!
Very original without the typical Twilight boy meets girl urban fantasy plot, there is a lot more to these guys than that!
At first impressions I did not like the main character Nick,he seemed a bit of a directionless wimp but perhaps he is like many normal people nowadays. What I did like was his honesty and quiet determination and his hope!!.Loved the credible idea of Juliet and her soul displacement and hope to read more of her..the introduction of a family member to her made the whole vibe of the story glow with happiness and warmth..I love a bit of feel-good factor..some lovely twists, humour in adversity and excellent pop-culture references...believable and well portrayed..loved it!!!
