This record is simply great fun. Whether the delightfully cheesy,"Something Special," the groovily snappy,"Trashbox," or the sophisticated,"Heartfixer," this Nu-Jazz combo have more than a few tricks up their sleeve.
This was given to me by an ex-girlfriend and to my surprise I´m still listening to it a good five years later.
It´s extremely versatile, some of the tracks make me bop around the bedroom, other ones are more suitable for a sophisticated dinner party.
I like the arrangements. This band are clearly interested experimenting with electronic affects. The trombonist,(I can´t spell his name,) adds much of the jazzy element and steal. The standout performer is Pat Appleton with her sumptuous vocals.
If maybe a little too long this album has some interesting moments, reggae influenced "Jump Over," and the melancholic, "Love Labours Lost," are two examples of this.
Fun and infectious, this is for only the seriously coool listener.
