I cried when I read this book, the feeling and emotion in the words were so poignant, some were so heartbreaking but yet there were some that really uplifted me. You will go through a whole range of emotions when you read this but you wont be disappointed. Beautiful through and through. The beauty of this book is that you can just open a page and dip in to it, every page has something that will touch the soul. It surely lives up to its title 'Poetry from the soul'

Dear J is a compilation of poems depicting love in its finest hour. The author, Maggie Brown exquisitely provides the readers with every morsel she savoured on her own when she loved this man we know as "J." It is riveting to say the least and very inspirational. Each poem takes the reader through the series of experiences one actual has when love innundates our soul. Jubilation, anger, passion, and torment in her lines only makes us want to fall in love time after time again; in order to feel blood pulsating ferociously through our veins. I am delighted to see that Maggie Brown's books are finally available in the US as I have had the pleasure of meeting this great author in person while vacationing through Scotland. If you liked Eat Pray Love, you will definitely adore Dear J by Maggie Brown.

"The book has a spiritual feel...there is a philosophical message in the work and as a result it uplifts and gives comfort to the reader," says Brown. "I began writing poetry because I couldn't find the right poem to send to someone. Sometimes it's difficult to find the right words to say to a loved one, and within this collection there are many ways to express feelings."
Dear `J' touches on all facets of the theme of love, including anticipation, excitement, passion, despair and longing. The book is meant to inspire and give hope to those who are navigating their own confusing emotions, whether that be love, happiness or sadness.
Brown claims she was inspired by a channeled spirit while writing the book. Her favorite poem is "Dream":
