If I could give this book ten stars I would.
Reg Thompson succeeds in describing his beautiful daughter so well that you feel you know her personally. The letters are raw and not self-conscious and he is very open and honest in the way he talks about his loss and the way it has devastated his family. Anyone who has suffered a loss themselves will find echoes of their own experience in this book. It can be hard to read and will probably have you in tears. However it is not all gloomy. He talks about many of the good times he shared with his daughter prior to her accident.
I think everyone should read this book and maybe hug their own family and friends a little tighter afterwards. It reminds us (always a good thing) to appreciate our loved ones while we still have them and not to take anything for granted.
Although Reg Thompson wrote the letters without intending to publish them by doing so he has introduced many people to his daughter and no doubt helped other people to try and fathom their own losses and grief.
Finally, I really hope that the family succeeds in getting a bridge built at the station. Network Rail has behaved appallingly and without compassion.
(Read the book and you will understand).
