5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and Helpful 17 Mar 2014

Thank you for this book! I have read Amber Rain's other books on bipolar disorder all very informative in my opinion. But I love that she wrote a book solely based on how to deal with someone suffering from bipolar disorder. I love my friend, but she suffers from this and it is not fun when she go off the chain.

Before I didn't know how to cope or deal with the situation. So I am happy to have found this book Dealing With a Bipolar Person to help me understand what to look for and how to hand situations when it comes to dealing with someone with the disorder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning about Bipolar Disorder 15 Mar 2014
By Stephanie - Published on Amazon.com

When I was little I had a friend with bipolar disorder, but I really didn't know it. I just kind of dealt with it because I liked her and I felt like I could calm her down. Many years later I finally really learned what she was going through, and what people are going through now-a-days.

Amber gives us an overview of bipolar versus manic, and how to spot the signs. She gives great tips on how to talk with the bipolar person, and how to cope without hurting the other person's feelings. I love the examples these authors give, as they hit close to home and help me imagine what the other person is going through.

Well put together, and the sections go in logical order. I found it easy to read, and easier to comprehend. Amber also gives you links to other books that can help you understand more. I love reading what she had to write, as she does a great job connecting to the real person.

This book is about bipolar illness (hence the title.)You are given the definition of bipolar and some symptoms that may identify the mental status. Mania, Depression and hypo-mania are also defined and lists symptoms to look out for. Most people do not know that there are different types of bipolar so this is helpful to notice the difference. My favorite part of this section is where people can understand how to talk and/or respond with someone who has this. It is very difficult for other people who have no idea why a person acts or thinks a certain way without actually knowing why themselves. Also we have additional links to view for more information.
5.0 out of 5 stars Must read guide for loved ones of those suffering from bipolar 3 Sep 2014

This book has a ton of information to help you deal with the bipolar person in your life. Bipolar is a difficult mood disorder as it does not just have the two phases that others have (in and out of the disorder) but rather it has several phases and this book discusses what those phases are, what to watch for to identify the phase and how to deal with the person in the specific phase they are in. There is also information about the different types of bipolar (bipolar I, II cyclothymic and rapid cycling bipolar).
