5.0 out of 5 stars This book is really practical and easy to understand!, 27 Jun 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dealing With Anger (Paperback)
I like this book because it does not tell you what to do, but guides you to understand anger. You can work through your own issues at your own pace. My teenage daughter is using it as well. I have another friend who has a daughter in her early twenties and is a single mom. I gave the book as a present and she says the information is helping her deal with her three-year-old's temper. The book gives practical tips for positve discipline techniques too. The author is down-to-earth and talks about all kinds of issues related to anger. I especially like the questionaires and self-help quizzes. Great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Women are encouraged to accept and express anger, 8 Aug 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dealing With Anger (Paperback)
I have had the opportunity to use the information in "Dealing with Anger" for the past two years in over 15 groups and also with individual clients. The women I work with range in age from 12 years old and up and many are leaving a violent relationship or have been court mandated because of anger issues. Working in group or individually the women have realized that anger is just an emotion and for some women it is the first time they have realized that it is OK for women to feel anger. The women have learned assertive ways to express how they feel, what they need and establish boundaries in their lives instead of stuffing and exploding. The information is very relevant to what is actually happening in the women's lives, so much so that one of our paticipants thought the session was a page from her life.

5.0 out of 5 stars When I lend it, it's hard to get my book back!, 28 Aug 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dealing With Anger (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book because it was an easy read, not full of clinical jargon. Quite often I find self-help books to be written as "them and us", but this book does not present that way. I found it humourous, informative, easy to understand and very helpful for my anger management problems. It deals with real people and real issues that we all face at one time or another. My teen-age daughter read it and enjoyed it a lot. It allowed us to speak to issues I was not able to address in the past. I particularly liked the "move at your own pace" format. You can pick up this book at the end, the middle or the beginning and still get the answers you need. It challenged me a lot and this lead to self empowerment and personal growth. I would recommend this book to anyone who is experiencing communication or interpersonal problems because anger is usually at the root of these problems. GREAT BOOK!

2.0 out of 5 stars Too simplistic and repetitive, 30 Oct 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dealing With Anger (Paperback)
This book says the same 3 things over and over again: no one can MAKE you angry, anger is a natural feeling, and you have the power to control your anger. All this is well and good, but it doesn't go more in depth than that. I found this book and its "solutions" rather trite.
