1.0 out of 5 stars How to deal with your mother-in-law 6 Feb 2006
By Starr
This book is awful. It is not actually a written account of mother-in-law problems with helpful suggestions written by qualified family psychologists, but rather just an amalgamation of vitriol spurted by bizarre self-indulgent Americans. If you are genuinely having trouble with your mother-in-law I would not recommend you buy this, it will not help at all. Rather, you should seek family counselling or, at the very least, just learn to tolerate your mother-in-law by biting your tongue.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that great!! No real advice.... 9 Aug 2011
By Shelby Twp, MI - Published on Amazon.com

I was a bit let down when I received the book. It's more aricles and stories of women's horror stories (and some are very bad!) than how to handle situations. I was looking for some great advice, but this book is more for laughs than helping.

1.0 out of 5 stars Layman for Sure 28 Mar 2005
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book is advertized as being written in layman's terms. For sure that must be because it was written by someone who had no idea what she was talking about. I'm sure she experienced some bad mother-in-law or something, but her book is written like a bad article from a teen magazine. In addition to the spelling and grammar mistakes, this book is all about "dissing" the MIL instead of resolving issues. The stories were sometimes funny, but I dreaded each time I had to read a part of the book actually written by the author.

This book has some wonderful points and ideas for in-laws...I learned some tricks to help my situation; if my mother-in-law would read it and accept some og the responsibility, we would be better...

I found an article in Cosmopolitan Magazine with advice from Dr.Bree. I decided to buy her book and found it very helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful and Entertaining at the same time 7 Oct 2004
By Misha Novini - Published on Amazon.com
This book is a compilation of stories about mother-in-laws that's been very helpful for my new fiance and I. The stories were eye-opening as to what to expect when we get married, and some were quite hilarious. We're already having some of the same problems with my mom. "How to Deal With Your Mother-in-law" is a must have for anyone who is going to get married anytime soon. The funniest book I've read in a while!
