Review

When Amy arrives home for her birthday tea, her parents have vanished and in their place is a baby she's never seen before. At around the same time, Sprocket wakes up naked on a deserted mountainside and realises he has lost his memory. Another imaginative Gleitzman/Jennings collaboration following the huge success of Wicked!

Product Description

When Amy arrives home for her birthday tea, her parents have vanished and in their place is a baby she's never seen before. At around the same time Sprocket wakes up naked on a deserted mountainside and realises that he has lost his memory. Both kids set out on journeys to find the people they belong to, little knowing that they will soon join forces and embark, with the baby, on the deadliest quest of their lives. Morris Gleitzman writes Amy's story and Paul Jennings Sprocket's, with each of them contributing alternate chapters.

This is the first Paul Jennings/Morris Gleitzmann book I've read, and it won't be my last. I found it a real page turner, and couldn't wait to see how the story was going to unfold.

Sprocket and Amy's story are told in separately and yet fit together perfectly as the tale unfolds and their adventure becomes the one and the same.

Packed with creativity, humour and fantasy, it truly was an inspiring read.

Um... 31 Mar 2005
By Nikki - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
These authors pride themselves on being weird, and this book is no exception. This has honestly got to be the strangest book I've ever read. From the nudist colony, to the guy getting 'pregnant', to the mum kissing her daughter's friend. Don't expect too much deep and sentimental stuff from this book, and don't even begin this book if you can't cope with non-realistic fiction.

Paul Jennings and Morris Gleitzman have officially written the strangest book ever, however it's a good fun read (probably for over 10), and it keeps you enthralled till the very last page with it's ever changing, unexpected plot. An amusing and good read for tweens to younger teens.
