Product Description

When sultry Dionne Dunbar is run down in the street one winter's night, Granite Cove Gazette reporter Rose McNichols is the only witness. Amid Christmas preparations in the New England fishing village, Rose alone is determined to discover Dionne's secrets. Who wanted the woman dead? Was it a member of her mediums circle . . . or one of her black book clients?

More About the Author

I'm a writer and a cartoonist/illustrator and did all of my book covers: A Nose for Hanky Panky, The Legend of Judgment Rock & other Mystery Stories and A Deadly Christmas Carol. Granite Cove, the setting of my mystery, was inspired by Gloucester, Massachusetts, in New England, where I grew up. I live north of Boston in Beverly Farms, a town with a cozy village feel (or should I say vibe?). My husband and I have a small herd of rescued cats.

My books and stories have nautical settings because I've always lived by the sea. During my single years I lived for a period in Hawaii, a long way from New England.

Needless to say, I'm really pleased to discover my book(s) are well received in the UK. Some of my readers have also mentioned liking my humor, and that is a compliment because I come from a "funny" family. We didn't nurture each other like some families, we played pranks on each other. We still do.

Thanks again for your kind remarks. My second Granite Cove Mystery, A Deadly Christmas Carol, is now live on Amazon. A print copy will be available soon.

All best,

Sharon Love Cook

5.0 out of 5 stars a surprising twist 8 Sep 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the perfect cozy. It is set in a small town with a recognisable community, the investigator is a journalist so has a real reason to be involved and she one dated a local cop. The main stages for the mystery are the newspaper offices, the vicarage and a school. The main events are a seance and rehearsals for a Christmas play. Many of the characters are involved in both events, which is handy for the plot line. The story rubs along very well, broken up with extracts from a very odd advice column from the newspaper. The characters are believable as are the events. I have read another book in the series from this author and recommend both.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Deadly Christmas Carol. 8 Jun 2014

A "cosy" read which I turned to gratefully after abandoning a critically-acclaimed competitor, "Eeny Meeny", very heavy going so will no doubt win prizes.
