This is really good! A very funny, fast moving mix of " Jilly Cooper meets Agatha Christie" might best describe "Dead Wicked", where a fabulous artists' retreat on an off-shore Atlantic island with an eclectic cast of glamorous writers/artists/islanders/visitors is upturned by a shocking event. The characters are diverse, wittily portrayed and such fun, but the descriptions of the island and its history add to the mystery and charm of this novel.

I have just finished reading this book and I have to say I loved it - very funny, very clever and witty. Towards the end ( the police interview) I laughed until I actually wept!
The characters are wonderful - each and every one of them, and as I read the book, I kept imagining who would play them in a film.
I especially liked that fact that although it is very, very funny, it is a murder mystery and the author keeps you guessing all the way though, so you will be intrigued and amused throughout. Read and enjoy!

Dead Wicked is Bressan's third and most accomplished novel to date. Although marketed as 'chicklit' I think such a description doesn't do it justice. Yes, it's fun, and romantic, but Bressan deals with situations and characters far removed from the familiar tropes of chicklit. The artists' retreat setting is wittily depicted; I would happily have read more of the quirks of its inhabitants even without the excitement of the murder. The characters are well-drawn and engaging, and the mystery itself satisfying and intriguing. I read this book in a sitting and would recommend it to anyone who likes a pacy read. Bressan is a versatile writer and I hope ciinclined continues to explore the crime genre.
