Fun:
First things first, this game is Dead Rising 2 with some minor changes - perhaps the best way to describe it is as a directors cut.

Changes:

- The protagonist has changed to the same one as Dead Rising 1, instead of collecting Zombrex for your daughter - you collect it for yourself.
- Other characters dialogue has had some changes to accommodate the protagonist change.
- There has been some optimization of the engine in regards to performance (for example loading times are shorter).
- There are more combo recipes
- The camera mechanic has returned from Dead Rising 1, you can now take pictures for prestige points.

Unchanged:

- The majority of the story and location are exactly the same.

If you have played Dead Rising 2 you have played this game, and it really cannot be recommended for people who have the second game. If you haven't got the second game, then this is the version to get.

*** Stars for people who have Dead Rising 2, ***** for those who don't

Don't Buy It. 4 May 2012

It is absolutely rubbish. The graphics arent atall impressive, Games for Windows Live ruins the co-op. The single player is just plain stupid, basically every mission has a timer, so if you fail the mission then thats the rest of the game over, you have to go back to the checkpoint (Which won't help because if you run out of time you can't go any faster) or you can load from whenever the player last went to the toilet. It badly needs an autosave feature. For example i'm stuck on the other side of the incredibly dull map and i have a few minutes to get to the other side, its not actually possible for me to get there so I need to start the game all over again from the very first mission. It's frustrating, irritating and a waste of money. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Going back to what I said earlier there is an irritatingly large amount of pointless side missions, every two minutes someone needs rescuing from some shop on the other side of the map, you spend 80% of the game running across the map avoiding zombies, 19% of time diving through zombies so none of them lunge at you and slow you down, and 1% actually enjoying the game. Installation problems for me and my friend ended up him having to download a Cracked launcher (yes thats right, he had to pirate the game in order to play it despite paying money). I think that in itself is enough to put you off. Its a poorly designed game and even if it was £1.50 on offer I wouldnt bother.. its simply a terrible experience. DON'T BUY IT.

Half in, half dead. 17 April 2012

Fun:
For a long time I was not sure about this game. When Dead Rising 2 was released on the PC I kind of put it off, having seen too many bad ports. When OTR slipped to an easily affordable price I decided to go for it.
My initial reaction was not good. The single player part consists of 'beat the clock' missions where if you fail or don't make it to a certian place in time the game is pretty much over. This is NOT the way to sell a story, by making me constantly watch the clock while rescuing people and making weapons. It's just aggrevating! I thought it would of been pretty much over by this point as I'm not big on MMO in games but I decided to give the 'sandbox' mode a whirl... now, well I'm hooked! No clock, no time limits, sadly no people to rescue, but at least half the game redeems itself. You will not get the 'access all areas' if you do not finish the entire SP game, but other people can join who can give you access to some of the cooler areas and stuff in the game. Good fun as Co Op play!
Worth it for £7 and will keep you busy for more than a couple of days.
Requires 'Games For Windows Live'.
