Manufacturer's Description

Dead Rising follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, an overly zealous freelance photojournalist on the hunt for the scoop of a lifetime. In pursuit of a juicy lead, he makes his way to a small suburban town only to find that it has become overrun by zombies. He escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be a bastion of safety yet it turns out to be anything but. It will be a true struggle to survive the endless stream of enemies, but players will have full reign of a realistic shopping centre, utilizing anything they find to fight off the flesh-hungry mob and search for the truth behind the horrendous epidemic.

Dead Rising features an open level of freedom and offers a vast array of gameplay possibilities. As part of a real time system, time is dynamic in Dead Rising, marching on whether Frank is actively engaged or if simply stationary. Time also plays a role as zombies become more powerful when the sun goes down. Though they move slowly during the day, the zombies become stronger and faster at night, making it even more dangerous for players to survive. The unprecedented numbers of enemies come in never-ending waves and consist of a diverse population of former humans that have retained some memory of their previous lives, which is reflected in their behaviour and appearance. The variety of different stores in the mall offers players an endless supply of resources including vehicles, makeshift weapons and more. Players will also encounter other survivors along the way and by helping them can acquire valuable clues as to what has happened.

Very good game, definately try this regardless if you think you will like it or not. its very different, there is a story line but you dont have to follow it, basically you are just encouraged to survive for 72 game hours in a shopping mall with 100s of different weapons at your disposal...the game is quite achievement based as you play the game through aiming at certain points such as zombie genocider kill 53000 odd zombies (the population of the city) or psycopath killer (survivors who've gone a bit crazy due to the infestation), you can also try to save sane survivors by escorting them back to your security room where you intend to take them with you when the helicopter arrives...but this may change as the game has something like 8 different endings, some of which unlock extra modes like another 24 hours and then infinity mode.... enjoy

Ok Zombies in a huge shopping mall and you are Frank a journalist who must get to the bottam of why all the living dead are eatting all the living alive. Use obvious weopons from guns found in the gun stores to bats, swords, lawnmowers, frying pans...if you can pick it up then you can slap or shoot a zombie with it. 100's of zombies on the screen at once...THAT IS SO COOL. Complete missions and try to save people...or not if you want. Imagine how cool it was to rescue six survivers at once, give them all weopons to protect themselves with and then guide them through the zombie masses...and I mean right through them. Some made it and some got noshed on. Its intense and a bloody good story from capcom. A little short for a hardcore gamer and you cant allways read the speech bubbles if you have a smaller tv but well worth the money now. Oh and just when the story seems to end it pans out even more...just play it...You'll see.

There have been many comparisons to what this game is like, is it gta with zombies? is it resident evil without the dark areas and jumping moments, and to be quite honest it defines itself in a new genre, just like shaun of the dead did being a rom-com-zom (romantic comedy zombie film) this is a zom-rpg-tps-zandbox hybrid (zombie, role-playing, third person shooter, open-ended game)

The story is as you'd expect from a dawn of the dead knock-off, Frank West (the main character you control) is a reporter who hears about the story of a lifetime and so gets dropped off by helicopter into this town (unbeknown by him at the time populated by zombies) and tells the helicopter driver to pick him up in three days, and then the story goes from there. The great advantage with this game and it's biggest weakness is this system, you have a 72hour limit in which you can create your own path, want to know how this zombie epidemic occured? or do you just want to mash up zombie's mindlessly? the choice is completely down to you, but the problem is you don't have the chance to really do both, there are multiple endings to the game which may insight some gamers to try out different things, but there's mostly no point.

The gameplay is either great or incredibly fustrating depending on your view, generally most actions/attacks are done with the X button, this makes it easy but it can sometimes feeling like a button masher, Frank will upgrade and become stronger with or without weapons by doing certain tasks like killing lots and lots and lots of zombies or rescuing other survivors throughout the mall - these parts tend to be the most annoying part of the game, but are again optional. Saving the game has to be the worst part of the game, you can only have one save, thats it, and because your constantly running on a time limit if you save the game too far away from your objective with little time left you'll probably have to start the game again, luckily your all of the upgrades Frank has will be carried over so this helps, but in no way excuses the system from being down-right terrible.

In conclusion, this game desite some minor and major flaws is one of the best on the 360, killing zombies with a chainsaw NEVER GETS OLD, and the freeform gameplay does mean you can dictate what happens. If you have the time to put into this game it will reward you with hours of enjoyment, but even if you don't you'll still enjoy sticking hangers into zombies faces.
