Book Description

The brand-new True Blood novel, starring the irrepressible Sookie Stackhouse, from No.1 SUNDAY TIMES bestseller Charlaine Harris.

Product Description

There’s a reckoning on the way… and Sookie has a knack for being in trouble's way; not least when she witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is known to be two-natured, suspicion immediately falls on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but before she can investigate something else - something even more dangerous - comes up. Sookie’s lover Eric Northman and his “child” Pam are plotting something in secret. Whatever it is, they seem determined to keep Sookie out of it; almost as determined as Sookie is to find out what’s going on. She can’t sit on the sidelines when both her work and her love life under threat - but as she’s gradually drawn into their plans Sookie finds the situation is deadlier than she could ever have imagined.

Yay! Its a goodie! 9 May 2011
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I finished this book in one day, couldn't put it down. I was a bit dubious when I first ordered it after reading some of the other reviews, but thouroughly enjoyed the book. I disagree with some others opinions that this was a "filler" book (I thought that about previous book) but really felt that this one stood out on its own. I felt that it was stronger than some of the past books as this one seemed to have a bit more substance and a full plot line and didnt leave a whole list of questions that you wish had been answered. I'm a big fan of the true blood novel series and will of course buy the new books as they are released, but as a general opinion I feel that Charlaine Harris is drawing the books out a little too much, im always left wishing that the book was double the size! I realise this is the mark of a good writer but the True Blood books do tend to be only around 300-odd pages and large text so they aren't very substantial. This is a just an overall opinion of the series and shouldn't detract anyone from buying this newest book as it was very enjoyable and one of the best she's had out recently.

Disappointed 6 May 2011
By Smee
Format:Hardcover
I am a huge fan of this series but the last two books have seriously let me down. It feels as if CH has run out of ideas and is producing something, anything, just to fulfil her contractual obligations.
I found the book lacking in plot and if this is another filler as suggested by another reviewer then CH needs to up her game significantly in the next book but unfortunately I won't be waiting with bated breath for it!

There seemed to be a lot of descriptions that were not necessary to the story and no real substance. It's getting quite formulaic in that sookie is disappointed with Eric but loves him so much, Bill is hovering in the background and someone else is trying to kill her. There is a half hearted 'bedroom' scene which actaully made me wonder what CH was on when she wrote it (ice pack and yahoo palace and monkey grooming???) with a rushed fight scene at the end.

I guess she is lining up future books as there were some outstanding threads but overall the book left me with a big sense of "was that it?" and for £8.99 for the Kindle version that's not a great feeling!!

Oh Dear 17 May 2011
Format:Hardcover
i loved all the first true blood books. they were fast paced, romantic and kept you guessing! the plots were 100 miles per hour as were the characters.

The last two books however are a big no no for me.

This one is like a wet log fire! The book is very short. It seems almost begrudgingly written with no imagination, new ideas or anything else. It just limps along from the last (weak) book. The first half might as well have been written on a postage stamp as there is no story line at all.

I forced myself to finish this in the hope that something would happen. Nothing different. No plot twists.. Very disappointing. Even the end. Clearly meant to make you think that there would be another book, was limp and rushed. Very poor . CH really needs to up the game here!!!

A new Sooky novel is allways a treat, like coming home.
Although not really a lot of eyeopeners, like all Charlaine Harris novels this one is a joy to read.
