The first stage was to sound like a clone of Fields of the Nephilim form the late 80s - given that 2 of the band members were ex-members of that group it wasn't too surprising.
The second stage is to become a hard modern goth band. The gloves have been removed. The jangles have been left behind.
There are a series of massive rock riffs on Light My Way and Descent whilst other tracks are more melodic One Moment Between Us, for example.
It marks a new, and improved, passage in NFDs career so far. If the promise of this album is realised then expect to see NFD heading towards the charts rather than bands such as Evanescence who pale in comparison!
It's not without its faults but it is superb! 8/10
