Product Description

Ariadne Oliver, Queen of Crime Fiction, has been asked to devise a Murder Hunt for a fête at Nasse House, the home of Sir George Stubbs. But she begins to suspect that someone is manipulating the scenario of her game and fears that something very sinister is being planned. She sends for her old friend Hercule Poirot.

At first, he is not inclined to take her very seriously, but soon a series of events propels him to change his mind. Then suddenly, all Ariadne's worst fears are realised when the girl playing the part of the murder victim is found strangled in the boat-house. For Hercule Poirot, the Murder Hunt has become a grim reality.

A BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation starring John Moffatt as the great Belgian detective, with Julia McKenzie as Ariadne Oliver.

Practically perfect 14 Jan 2010

This is one of the gems of the BBC radio adaptations of Christie novels (at least, of those I've heard so far). John Moffat continues to impress as Hercule Poirot and here he is joined by Julia McKenzie's sparkling and very amusing Ariadne Oliver. I was completely enthralled by this production. I felt all the vocal cast were very good - Sir George perhaps sounds a little old and I found Hattie's voice a little strange at first but then she is a strange and also foreign young girl! Rosalind Knight is very good in the important role of Mrs Folliat. Highly recommended!

Hercule does it again 30 Jun 2010

Excellent adaptation of the Queen of Crime's book. David Suchet is my personal favourite Poirot, but John Moffat is also very good as the famous detective. Although this story has been televised, I feel that everyone would enjoy this CD as it is closer to the original story. I have listened to it several times and would highly recommend it to everyone.

By David TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Dead Man's Folly was the first Agatha Christe book I read and I havn't look back since. The basic plot without spoilers has Poirot contacted by his old friend Ariadne Oliver, who has been asked to organise a "murder Hunt" at a country mansion. She has a feeling that things are not quite right and it's not long before she is proved right.

The book is typical Agatha Christie ie murder at a country house who an interesting assortment of characters. Poirot is on form too picking out the clues and until all is revealed. The book moves at a nice pace with no foul language are graphic gore or sex which makes a nice change from alot of modern books.

As I said before this is the first Christie book and it's one of my favourites. If you enjoy a classic whodunit from the "Queen of Crime" then this book is for you.

Christie scores again!
After a some rather feeble late Poirot offerings, I really enjoyed this. Christie is back to the scenario she is most familiar with: upper middle-class England, living in Devon,... Read more

A superb piece of story telling, and all the better for Poroit being in it from the beginning.

The best Christie I've read to date.
