This kind of books are very useful to play games.
Whenever I can, I use strategy guides to help me in games progress.
Strategy books from BradyGames, Prima Guides & Piggyback are written with high quality and great objectivity, as well with good graphical appearance.

This guide is just like any other, it has facts about characters and about the zombies. This guide also gives details of hidden secrets about the game.

A very good guide, but there are collectibles in it that are in different places in the version I got of the game, and 61 not 60 collectibles as guide says. Nevertheless this guide does explain a real lot and does contain all quests.

a mostly solid game guide with a few drawbacks 24 April 2013
By Mindful Consumer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
for anyone else out there who had the game guide to the first game, we know it was good, but not fantastic. that being said, this guide seems a little better than the first, but still with a few weird issues.

the chapters are as follows:

game basics
palanai guide to zombie watching
walkthrough (198 pages of the guide is dedicated solely to this)
team quests
weapon crafting
collectibles
points of interest
co-op play
achievements and trophies

the game basics are helpful, both to newcomers, and as a refresher to anyone who has played the first game. the character outlines are great, especially for the new character. if you played the first, you can import your original character to the new game at the level you were at, with all the skills you had invested in. if you choose not to do this and start fresh with the new character (who looks pretty great), you apparently get 15 points to spend right off the bat.

the enemy listing is fantastic. it's always nice to know their weaknesses.

the walkthrough is solid. it is filled with decent sized photos so you can see what the text is referencing. some guides print impossibly small photos along with the walkthrough, and i can safely say this guide does not suffer from that issue.

i really enjoyed the weapon crafting section. not only does it have a full list of blueprints, but also where or how you obtain them, as well as what is required to craft them. this will prove to invaluable along the way.

the collectibles section is fantastic. numbered items on the map show exactly where you will find them.

the points of interest section was a nifty addition. you will find, in a concise map and accompanying text listing, where all kinds of things are (i.e.: mods, med kits, different types of zombies). i am sure i will be referencing this section quite a lot as well.

the only section i really felt let down by was the challenges and achievements section. under challenges, it will say something like 'cut off %s heads,' only it REALLY says '%s' and not an actual number. perhaps this is due to people being able to import previous leveled up characters, therefore the numbers would be different, but nowhere does it explain this. also, the achievements and trophies page is scrunched up into just about half the page, the rest being left blank. the text is pretty darn small, so i wonder why they didn't take advantage of the full page? in addition, it doesn't reference page numbers to assist with any of the achievements or trophies, so you have this list, and nothing more.

my other minor beef is there is no index. i feel like this is a small thing that can be tremendously helpful, yet we see it in so few guides. boo.

all in all, the guide is mostly terrific, and i would still recommend it to anyone looking to maximize their game. i'm certainly glad i have it!

Good But Not All Correct 6 May 2013
By Zach1026 - Published on Amazon.com

This strategy guide is good in the sense that you get most of the locations and there are maps and many more things like what items are where. BUT I have gone through this whole game according to this book and some of the mod locations are not right and or not there. And a few of the mods are different from what they say they are in the book. Some of the collectibles are the same way and the Dead Zone Bosses as well. Some of these items are missing, some are not in the right location. So if you are a stickler for wanting everything perfect, then I recommend that you don't buy this guide, but if you don't care like I do and want an extensive walk through and most of the collectible, mod and Dead Zone Bosses and such locations, then buy it. This helps out a lot, but is not perfect.(Over 300 Pages In This Guide)

The worst guide I've ever bought 28 April 2013
By Ian - Published on Amazon.com

This is an absolutely horribly written guide. I mean you would think there would be editors to check this to make sure the idiot writers were corrected.

Unfortunately that didn't happen.

THIS MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

First Mistake: There is a section in which all of the Dead Zone bosses are listed. 12 out of 13 are listed. Where's the 13th? In the Enemies section. Joe "Ogre" Somare isn't even in the Dead Zone section. Are you kidding me? They can't get it organized????

Second Mistake: The guide claims that one of the collectables listed at the end of game is in a place called "Nick's House." While it is in Nick's house it claims that you'll get the collectable during a quest called "Hidden Data." THERE IS NO QUEST CALLED HIDDEN DATA. None at all. Zero. Zip. Where the hell did they get this from? Were they just bored so they decided to make up stuff not in the game? Wow.

Third Mistake: Miscellaneous errors pop up frequently. Such as a "Rescue Carlos" quest. I rescued him but then i also noticed RIGHT ON THE NEXT PAGE "Rescue Carlos" yet the quest was rescuing a man named Kyle. There are also plenty of spelling mistakes such as "Docks" being spelled as "Docs." How pathetic.

Final Mistake: This is the worst of them all. They screwed up the Collectable section up so much I had to go online to fix it. Are you kidding me?????? The two sections screwed up are the "Angela Guerra Recordings" and the "Postcards from Palanai" The writers claim there are 60 Collectables in the game. Wrong. There are 61 yet they only listed 59. They didn't even include the 15th Postcard. only 1-14. Then to top off the horrid crap cake the recordings are all wrong. Recording 5 (which is apparently found in a bunker by the BioSphere) is not #5. you pick it up and it's #6. But the guide says that #6 is on a bookshelf in The Tunnels. Not even. I went to the exact location and even checked videos online and no such collectable exists. So where is Collectable 5???????? Well it turns out it's down in Halai City. UNMARKED in the guide.

Do. Not. Buy. This. Guide.

Seriously I don't know what the writers were up to when they wrote this, but they WEREN'T playing the game. I still love guides from BradyGames but the writers for this guide should be fired. I haven't found anymore mistakes, but i can always edit this later if I do.

The main reason I got this guidebook was for the maps. They help me out greatly whenever I need to go places and need to know what to watch out for.

I highly recommend it if you have this game!
