Product Description

Rita Sidhu is a smart young scientist with a bright future. She’s already made a first step towards the development of a technology with the potential to benefit hundreds of thousands of heart disease sufferers.
She also has a secret.
Something she’s kept hidden for too long.
A road traffic accident on a London street unleashes a deadly tide of grief and torment that will only be stemmed by murder.
Each one immaculately planned.
Executed with maximum precision.
When Detective Chief Inspector Terence Varcy is sent to investigate the savage torture and killing of one young man, little does he realise what a bloody trail he’s about to uncover.
In the seats of power, corruption is rife and there seem to be leads aplenty. But are they steering him in the right direction? If Varcy’s premise is flawed, what will it take to make that vital connection?
And there’s another murder on the cards …

The protagonists here are Rita, a scientist, whose work seems to be related to some murders, and Terence Varcy, a senior detective charged with investigating them. Their stories are related in the third person. A third protagonist is the perpetrator whose story is delivered in the first person.

The suspense/intrigue in this novel was fantastic (fortunately, the "rear cover summary" doesn't give much away). I kept wondering what was going on and it was only about two-thirds into the book that things started coming together - but not a boring moment until then.

This was a well-constructed and well-written story which kept my interest up throughout.

There were a couple of typos and grammatical errors in the Kindle version, but nothing serious.

NOTE : I was invited to review this story by the author - this was a rather game move as my review of his debut novel (Kill and Cure) wasn't all that favourable. I purchased the novel through Amazon.com at full retail price - a bargain as it turns out.

In short, I was really glad to have read this book and probably wouldn't have without the above request as I didn't think the earlier work was all that good. Unlike some authors then, it seems that others can improve rather than fade. Well done, Mr. D.

Great read, kept me hooked just like the last book Kill & Cure. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey I was taken on through the story. At points I couldn't put it down!! Looking forward to the next one!

Gripping Read 4 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
thought Kill or Cure was excellent but this one excels. Page turning, gripping stuff - couldn't out it down. I love the way Stephen writes, makes you feel like you are really there, I got so caught up in the story and just needed to get to the end. Hope there are more to come - the world deserves more of his writing.

Getting better
This was a story which kept one guessing. The characters were quite well drawn, although I cannot really identify with Varcy who comes across as a bit two dimensional. Read more
