stoner/doomchick (London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

This release is NOT by UK the Doom-meisters of the same name, so don't bother: it's rubbish.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not like they used to be, 29 Oct 2003
This review is from: Dead Generation (Audio CD)
When I saw Sloth live a couple years back, I really enjoyed them and their first album (Voice of God) which is excellent. So when this came out I went straight ahead and bought the album...bugger, what a waste of cash. They've gone from promising stoner/doom metallers into nu-metal wanna be nickleback clones... Very disappointing all in all. Some of the guitar riffs are quite good but the signing yuk...

5.0 out of 5 stars SLOTH DEAD GENERATION: Finally a brilliant new artist!, 2 Feb 2004
This review is from: Dead Generation (Audio CD)
I recently purchased Hollywood Recording artist's first major label debut Dead Generation after hearing their commercial for Someday. Let me tell you, this band should not be confused with the pitiful band out of the U.K. by the same name. This Sloth is from Los Angeles California, and at first listen I was completely drawn in to their world. From the first track "All we know", to the last pink floyd influenced "Billygoat" I was captivated. I really feel that Sloth is one of those bands that are just ahead of the curve. Unlike so man acts I have reviewed, Sloth's frontman is not only good looking, but has an extremely stron voice. I've rarely see any ads promoting this band's freshman release, so I can only make this assumption. The audience will have to catch up with Sloth. This will be the band that you overlooked, but will soon be bigger than your fat Aunt. Dead Generation is a solid first album, with all the signs that point to greatness. This album gives you all of the twists and turns that the classic rock favorites have given you. Fans of Pink Floyd to System of a down will love this!
