Product Description

Product Description

The innovative and exclusive design of the Vento VV550715 from De'Longhi gives high performance at exceptional value for money. It features the "Venturi Effect", in which an internal chimney-like structure increases convective air flow. The main body of the radiator is encased in a surrounding second outer shell, creating a chimney-like space inbetween the two. Air is drawn in at the bottom, heated by the main radiant heat of the radiator and then expelled at the top. This convective effect increases the speed at which the room is heated, in addition to the normal radiant heat produced.

With 1.5 kW of heat output, the Vento is perfect for smaller rooms or for boosting existing heat sources around the home. It has three variable heat settings and an adjustable room thermostat to set and maintain the desired temperature, as well as an anti-frost function and an overheat safety protection feature. The VV550715 comes with wide-span castors and an integrated carry handle for easy transport and a three-year guarantee.

I got this heater for one of the bedrooms that is always very cold and can not be warmed by the central heating without cooking the whole house.

The unit feels very well constructed and the wheels and cable reel are very handy to have.
It will heat up a small to medium room up in no time at all and I am finding my self having to turn it down a notch as it warms the room very effectively and quickly, even on the lower power usage setting!

Although it doesn't say in the description there is a small neon indicator light that shows when the heater is on and heating, which is rather useful.

I only gave it 4 stars as the power cable is a little on the short side at just under 1.40m long, although I could probably fit a longer one if need be. The heater is only going to draw 7 amps max on the highest power setting (1500watt/230V=6.52amp) so as long as you use a thick cored wire rated at 13amps it should be fine.

Summery: A decent oil filled heater that is very fast and effective at heating small to medium sized rooms.

Update: During the freezing winter of 2010 my boiler broke down and this heater was able to heat my bedroom all night long.

Got it very quickly from supplier, heated up a living room 10x16 in about 20 minutes. its a cold room and it usually takes over an hour with the central heating. would recommend if your looking at this or anything similar

Does what it says on the tin. Works well, offers a good heating solution to a 5m by 7m room

Firstly, do not judge an oil filled radiator by it's kWh rating alone. A 2.5kWh rad does not necessary provide more room heating performance than a 1.5kWh model. All that the kWh rating dictates is how much energy can be input into heating the oil to a desired temperature. A higher rating will obviously heat the oil to peak temperature faster, but once reached much less energy is generally needed to maintain oil temperature. Many of the poorer heaters have large headline kWh ratings, but have very small surface areas (lack of metail fins, panels, vents) needed to circulate warm air around a room. The first oil filled rad I purchased was a cheap 2kWh Challenge model from Argos. It worked, but was not man enough to fill my 18ft x 12ft front room. My second rad was a DeLonghi 800W Banmbino which was actually purchaed for a small 8ft x 8ft office room. This took longer to heat up, but once warmed up provided more heat than my original 2kWh Argos jobby. Obviously it's better design outweighed the bigger heating element, and I ended swapping the rads between rooms. Using a plug in wall meter I confirmed that the DeLongi drew max 836W from the mains supply vs 1.92kW for the Challenge, yet the DeLongi out-punched it's 2x more poweful rival.

Anyway, this review is actually for my recently purchased 1.5kWh Vento, which was purchased on the strengths of the Bambino's performance above. Like the Bambin it is very well built, and produces much more heat than it's 1.5kWh suggests. It eaaily heats my 18x12 front room, somethng the 800W Bambino barely managed and the 2kW Challege didn't come close to heating. It has three heat settings and a thermostat to allow basic temperature contol. The 3 heat settings require the following the power input with thermostat at max (measured from the plug).

I never thought I would be impressed by a radiator. First thing you will notice is how good it looks (for a radiator that is), it does not look out of place in the corner of a room and is far away from the normal sqare and chunky design.

The controls are simple - 3 heat settings, and a thermostat - this has worked reliably and keeps the room its in a nice balanced tempature.

On first turn on, it does give off a not particularly bad, but strange smell, almost like a new plastic smell when you first turn on new electronics. I left it on for a few hours in the spare room and this has since completely gone.

On full this gives off a surprising amount of heat, the Ventrilo feature definitely works and if you put your hand above it, you feel an almost warm breeze. It gets very hot.

If this is going to be your primary heating device for a large space I would maybe look for something a little bigger, however for a normal sized room its perfect.

A great no-nonsense heater. Heats a good size bedroom in a few minutes even at the lower setting. Castors make it easier to move, especially on laminate flooring. Would buy another if they were still available at under £30!

I rate this heater 5* without a doubt,I must do,I have 3 of them, all 1.5k,because they throw out so much heat, you probably wouldn't believe, but take it from me ,they are marvellous. They are also very economical to run.I have a large house, and the central heating is very expensive, but through the day,I don't have it on for very long,I just heat the rooms that I'm using, and this is where these heaters come in handy.I have two of them on constantly, all day long, and my electric is very reasonable, but if you are thinking of getting one, don't go over the 1.5 or 2.0k,as they then start to eat the electric, and unless your rooms are bigger than16x10in,then the higher kw is not needed.also, they go for ever, and the one I bought first, about 7 years ago,is as good as new.
