What is an Air Conditioner?
The only true way of cooling a room is to use an air conditioner. A fan can blow out cool air, but only in a specific area. An air conditioner will actually reduce the air temperature of an entire room.
How does it work?
Unlike fans, which simply move air around, air conditioners draw the hot air into the unit over an evaporator, which contains a low pressure and very cold refrigerant. The cool air is then blown out through the front vents while the hot air is expelled through a rear hose.
Portable Units

The De’Longhi PAC L41AH Portable Air Conditioning Unit is a must-have for those long, hot summer months. With a 10,000 Btu cooling output, it is suitable for rooms up to 85 m³.
The air conditioner has castors fitted to the bottom to enable you to easily move it from room to room. It does not require installation--all you need to do is position the outlet hose through a window or door and plug it in. The digital display, 24-hour programmable timer and remote control are simple to understand and easy to use.
The De’Longhi PAC L41AH also has a built-in 2 kW Heating Element, the perfect solution for those cooler summer evenings where you may need a little warmth.
The Autofan feature enables the air conditioner to automatically set the temperature and fan speed according to the actual temperature of the room. As standard, this product also comes with an independent dehumidifier function, which can be used to remove moisture from the air at a rate of 24 Litres per day during both summer and winter months. The built-in dehumidifier is also ideal for drying laundry.

On my 3rd machine now - and it's going back to john lewis. Supposed to be premium brand but had the following problems:
1. 1st machine - nice - bus sounded like a lawnmower - I base this on a great old machine im replacing - and the old one is much quieter! It would quieten down a lot if you put your finger on.
2. 2nd machine - arrived from john lewis with a great rip in the box - and the unit was badly scratched - not really john lewis's fault - courier / delonghi badly pack the unit with not enough protection in the box if you ask me.
3. 3rd machine - quieter - but cools and cools and cools without stopping - on 24 degrees it ends up getting our room to 16 degrees - and goes on and on - think the thermostat is not working¬!
Very disapointed - trying another make now! Shame - nicely thought out unit and looks nice - but the package does not work im affraid.
