i bought this in currys for half the advertised price.we got into blenders when our oldest son came back from uni with his.we missed it when he went back so decided to get one for the house.this has proved to be a tremendous buy,its heavy,powerful and does what it says on the box!buy one before they fly out of the store.

Arrived yesterday so I cannot say how delonghi-term use will go but I can give a first impression which sometimes counts. It was very well packaged. Had the required plug attached and a short concise manual with dos and don'ts. It really is very solidly made with a metal base and a glass jug with a substantial plastic lid. No flimsy plastic here. The switches seem very durable and large enough to use even with messy hands. I like the design too which is quite distinctive.

I gave it a clean and started using it. I made a smoothy - plums, pear and apple juice. It was very easy to use and worked quickly and solidly towards liquidly. Tasted quite good too. Cleaning it afterwards was simple - just rinse the jug in warm water and leave the top off to dry the inside.

I am off to find some recipes for smoothies and soups...

This was our first smoothie maker but it broke down after 2 months despite being physically robust. Smoothies are a permanent addition to my family's diet now so it makes sense for smoothie maker No.2 to be more robust (as near commercial grade as possible). Also, a glass jug like this one is handy but we will buy one that is also dishwasher safe this time (you WILL tire of washing out the jug). My advice is 'don't skimp' on the quality because you'll find these things do a lot of work.

Upside: (1) cheap, (2) seemingly robust

Downside: (1) buy some ear defenders because this model is VERY LOUD. (2) Not reliable evidently (3) Doesn't seem dishwasher safe
